Insulation

Has anyone add insulation in the storage areas in the camper. If so what type, any pictures or tips.

The first area I would check is where the front cap meets the frame at the bottom. I found a one inch gap there. I ran a garage door molding across the entire front on the TT (inside the storage area, and then filled the gap with spray foam from the bottom. I sealed any "pass throughs" with spray foam. I did not insulate the rest of the storage areas because I figured that most of the cold would be coming through the floor.

I have not. There are a number of posts on the subject. Most posts have been around the pass through storage, that is under the bed. Everyone has used foam board. Seen both secured to the underside of the bed platform, and to the cargo hold door.

Recommend using a foil faced foam, in a SB home, it is a code requirement if it is left exposed (not embedded in a wall).

What I did was use foil backed foam board under the bed and on the sides of the bed pedestal. It was cheaper to double up 1/2“ board than to buy 1” board. Used silver furnace duct tape to hold it in along with a interference fit. It really helped keep the cold from the storage area from coming in the bedroom. I will have to look at the front behind the “rock guard” now that has been mentioned. Jay

I have insulated my storage areas ( used a hot melt glue gun) 6 years and still holding. I also have 5/8” foam flooring in light oak that keeps the floor warm and very quiet, great to walk on.

To reduce the amount of cold air getting to the front bed area I used bubble foil insulation and using a framed-panel blocking off the under-bed storage from the front pass thru storage. I stapled the foil insulation underneath the entire wood bed platform and top surface area within the pass thru storage.

I also insulated behind the framed-wood panel (not shown), and acted as an added bed frame platform support as well.
