Currently paying $650 a yr. for a 2018 Jayco Whitehawk 23 MRB. Seems high, any recommendations on companies to look at? Currently have Nationwide
Thanks

A lot depends on where you live, not just what company.

X2 + some may have replacement value insurance vs. market value. More details are needed to make better direct comparisons.

That's more than we are paying for our Motor Home. We have Geico. We have full coverage and glass coverage for windshield and windows. Geico gives a discount for military or veterans. Also for CDL licence holders. I have both.

Be aware that insurance companies use your credit rating...not saying I like that idea but they do and get away with it. Also your age and driving record.

Any other company would be sued for discrimination but not Insurance Companies. Seems they get a pass on everything.

Good points. My policy is for replacement cost (both comprehensive and collision) with around $500 deductible. Also includes vacation liability, Mexico travel (not happening) and some other miscellaneous coverages. I am sure there are many factors involved in determining premiums. It did go up from last year.

Insurance is based on risk analysis. Statistically, younger drivers do dumb stuff, and are at higher risk. Bad driving record is a proven history of doing dumb stuff, and a higher risk. The credit score is debatable. One could argue that a bad credit score is showing irresponsibility. I say having a good score just means I know how to game the system.

Mine is $450 for a 15 Eagle Premier 318RETS. It is with Progressive with replacement cost, diminishing deductibles (now at $63 each), vacation liability for slip and fall type things in my camper. You don't have liability if the trailer isn't hooked up to car on a normal auto policy. Alot has to do with where you live, your age, credit, driving record etc.

$192 per six months on my Nor Cal Ameriprise policy (Costco). Since we just took delivery of our Whitehawk 31Rl within the past few days, I also got a quote for an RV policy through Safeco Ins Co of America for $428 per year ($100 deds 500K vacation liability, $10k personal property)
On our last rig, I had a Progressive Ins policy, however, Ameriprise made me switch because of my Umbrella policy due to Progressive's A.M. Best Rating.

Insurance is so individual circumstance specific you can’t count on guidance from what others are paying.

I can say nationwide is a great company, and I would pay some premium for a known great business over an unknown. Geico appears good too, but I have no first hand experience with them. 75% of my policies are nationwide.

As for the circumstance dependence. I own 2 house; primary residence is $700/year; same limits, same deductible, same company, 1/4 size house...my second home is $1100 year. All because of the zip code, it’s in a mountains area with more distance to fire departments. So 1/4 the size home and 150% the cost.

Biggest gap in prices for trailers is if you place it on an "RV" policy or an auto policy. Definitely not the same coverages.

Wow...ours is over $3,000 a year - it covers both our F450 and the 5vr. Not all insurance companies cover the F450 because it is considered an entry-level semi (I know, right).

I pay $243.00 for 1 year thru Good Sam National General Insurance. This is full replacement for 5 years, then pro rated. Includes attachments and valuables. Deductible is $250.00.
Then, in the early winter, middle to end of November when it gets parked. The collision gets dropped and we maintain comprehensive. We get a check in the mail for around $73.00 or so.

In NY if you don't have Foremost, you are paying too much. They simply can't be beat. My own personal agent (auto, home, boat, etc.) is an RVer and he uses them too, even though his company doesn't represent them.

Of course, as others have said, credit rating and the state you live in may make one of the others cheaper.

Allstate tacked onto my auto insurance $330 every 6 months.

I need to shop around but it's hard in hurricane alley to find a cheap auto insurer because Allstate wants all your business or none. Many low price insurers like USAA don't write homeowners ins. in this area due to hurricane liability.

$135 per year for the below trailer, through USAA. I honestly have not looked at what it covers.
