It sounds reasonable to me. Mine was over 200 the first year but has now dropped to 180.00.

There are a lot of things that affect insurance rates.
Where you live.
Value of your trailer.
Age of your trailer.
Driving record.
Credit rating.
Other vehicles and home covered by the same company.
Claims history on a particular model.
Amount and type of coverages.

I have Allstate and I pay $48 a year for comprehensive and collision. Liability is covered by the towing vehicle. I called a place that specializes in camper insurance and the were over $200 a year, the reason being they were also adding liability. I would say check with your auto insurance and see if the insurance on your TV covers liability on the trailer, if it does you don't need liability on the trailer and it will make your rates much lower.

delongboy, Liability on your trailer only covers it when being towed by the tow vehicle (attached to said vehicle) not set up at a campground !

Mine covers full replacement value, contents, liability, 1000 disappearing deductible which reduces by 250 per year til gone. As said many factors go into the premium costs including where you live and your driving record. I have mine with Progressive and it is a separate RV policy from my vehicle policies.

I have a Geico RV specific policy which covers full replacement if totaled at current prices whether towing or not. It also covers road side assitance, inside RV medical, rental and lodging assitance while on vaca, lockout service, campground liability, awning coverage as well as some other things.
Many rider policys as mentioned above will not cover the trailer in the event the event occured while un hooked.
Storage location also plays a roll as well. RV specific policys are higher yes but the level of coverage is greater in the event of an accident or damage from a weather related event. My policy is about a tank of fuel higher than the bare bones coverage in my area but I know that I am covered for everything. My suggestion would be that all find out what your policy covers in the "what if scenarios" before your next trip. Some may be surprised at just how exposed you can be with some of the policys offered out there.
Forget the total costs that are being mentioned as each is specifc to your policy plans, credit, unit, history, DD course discount, options, company and a host of other factors.
The real question that should be asked is how covered are you? Can you pay for a major collision and come away with your unit and TV fixed or replaced in almost all scenarios with limted OOP expenses other than your deductable? My answer is yes based on my policy.
Also what happens if a tree falls on your unit in the campground? Or any damage for that matter?
The last policy I had was a rider on the TV due to my ignorance at the time. The gentlemen who bought my last unit was an insurance broker and he was kind enough to advise me of the limited policys and just how exposed you can be with them.
Ins is hard to pay for and you hope you never need it, but if you do...are you covered?

Liability covers you against being sued from the trailer damaging property or injuring someone. I don't think the chances of that happening while set up at a campground are very high. As far as a tree falling on it or other types of weather damage, that is covered under comprehensive.

not doubting you in any way - but heres my question - what if a freind was visiting you at the cg and fell and got hurt....say leaving your trailer? are you protected with your coverage?

I would have to say, I'm probably not covered in that situation. I guess I will have to be careful what kind of "friends" I allow in my camper.

I like the idea of full coverage for myself. If something was to happen I know I'm covered. I also have a 2 million dollar umbrella over the house, cars, truck, TT, boat.
I remember reading a story several years ago about a family that lived in a condo complex to make a long story short they had a fire that was an accident on the stove that caused a fire that totaly destroyed the entire complex. Well the structure was covered and the familys contents but not the contents of the other units. They had to file for bankruptcy protection.
For only 1.2 million.....Freaky accident but they happen.

Thanx for the responses and input. We decided to just go ahead and get the full coverage w/USAA-Progressive. USAA is what we have everything we own covered with. Reason I questioned this to begin with was, our 2010 Jayco 1206 popup which cost/valued $11k when we bought it new last yr and this new one which cost only $15 more, is the big gap in premium cost. I thought it would be based on cost/value of the unit. We paid $100 premium for the 1206 model. I was wrong on this logic. Oh well, $200 dollars isn't going to make or break me. I just can't rationalize the difference in price based on the cost/value of the units. Well, both are paid in full. That's a good thing. LOL! <l:-)--< Thanx again for the replies!

Maybe the difference is being calculated on how your plan is currently set vs your orginal policy? Full replacement vs replacement at current market? Meaning that your first unit would be replaced at the current market price for the 2010 model in your market, where the new unit might be underwritten as replaced at current new cost for the exact or comparable unit if totaled. In my case it was only a $60.00 difference between the 2. You might want to look over your original policy and see why. For it to be double the cost something may have been underwritten differently between the 2 policys.

You do know that if you pay up all policys for the year you get a big discount on all rather then paying by the month,,,,,As far as I know the only company that allows car and trucks by the year with a big discount is american family may there are others but I never found one......Let me know if I'm wrong
