Pure Sine Wave Power Inverters

Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter.

On occasion my wife stay in a primitive campsites and would like to power a TV to watch a movie or a Mr. Coffee maker in the morning. For those moments something small in size with a low amperage auto shutoff and battery cable connections to pull from our tow vehicle when needed.

Considering just running a 12 awg extension cord from the inverter and plug into the travel trailer connection via a 30 amp to 20 amp dog bone.

Probably will have to power off the TT onboard battery trickle charger so to eliminate any draw there.

Would be nice if was weather/rain proof so I could run the battery clamps through the grill instead of putting it under the vehicle hood when in use.

For the Mr. Coffer probably 1500watt would be better.

I would suggest 2000w. You don’t want it running at maximum ability. A lot of advertised wattages are for peak, for when a motor starts up and the continuous is about 30% less. Either way 2000 will cover your coffee.
As you said, Pure sine wave, its better for electronics.
I’m not aware of any designed for out in the weather, you could install in a weather proof box with waterproof connectors.
I suggest one with a remote switch so you can turn on and off as needed.
Finally, you need good battery support. 100 amp hour deep cycles will give you 50 amp hour usable. A coffee maker will use about 15 of those amps each time you use it. Someone I’m sure has the exact amount. You should get about 5 hours of tv, plus lights, refer controls, don’t forget your furnace will need 20-30 amps for cold nights.
Then of course you need a few hours of power to charge it all up again.

I suggest 4 six volt batteries and a generator to charge it back up each day. That would give you a couple of days between charges, 400 watts of solar would be a great add on. That’s similar to my system.

I just put a Renolgy 2000 watt PSW inverter in our camper. (I will do a write up about it in my mod thread). Sure a bigger inverter costs more, as does PSW. It ran the microwave (and the fridge where I forgot to turn it to gas only) with no sweat. I would say if you need 900-1000 watts of AC power then buy a 1500 watt unit. Jay
