Is anyone using this trailer mount for their generator?

We don't have a truck. Our tow vehicle is a Nissan 3500 van. We are considering this:
https://www.campingworld.com/trailer...ier-70918.html to haul our generator. Do you have any first-hand experience with this?

Thanks!

63 pounds for the platform plus the generator added to your tongue weight? Mine wouldn't like it! Also, are you going to run it there or lift it down each time? That lift is above waist high for me and would be very awkward, with shin barking galore.

We don't have an open bed truck, rear trailer DEFINITELY can't handle the weight. Open to other suggestions. I tried a different thread and most folks said they use their truck bed (not an option for us) or pointed to this potential solution.

As long as the extra weight does not exceed the the max tongue weight i dont see an issue other than noise and power cord lenght.

If it's a heavy generator I would lock it down and leave it there unless in a storage yard.

My neighbor has one with a pair of Honda Eu2200i generators permanently mounted on it. Been there for over 2 season with some long trips, and over some rough boondocking roads.

He also some extended run kit with fuel pump modifications so he’s not climbing up there to refuel every day.

I think that is a great solution for someone with a van or something without bed space for a generator. As I may have mentioned, if we towed with our van more often than we do, I would use that type of mount for my generators.

That style of generator would be loud as F! Even an inverter style generator would generate vibrations throughout the frame...
How many watts/amps do you need? A 2500W generator would be small and light enough to carry in the camper or on that mount and simply pull it out/off at your campsite.

will your jenny fit thru the trailer door? Drain the fuel out first if it does or you decide to do that.

Generator vibrations can be mitigated with rubber isolators. Many of us have generators mounted right beneath us in toy haulers.

My jenny rides in back, welded a bumper mount hitch to the bumper, since I also use my jenny for work it has a hitch mount on it already...works wonderfully!

I always found the vibration from bumper mount gens to be annoying. I've stuck two different gens on the rear bumpers of trailers and both vibrated too much for me. Noise was not an issue nor was exhaust smell.
Both gens had rubber feet.
I would carry it there but drop it to the ground for RV use.

Mine is mounted in a frame and the rubber shocks are between the jenny and the frame.......no vibes make it to my trailer.

I think I'd take some vibes over listening to that gen.

Its amazingly quiet, it comes in close to one of those Honda generators. I was surprised at how quiet it was when I got it for work.

Rear mount generator

I mounted my Honda 2200i on the rear carrier. I have had the bumper reinforced/braced and welded to the frame to carry extra weight and the carrier is attached to the frame and rests on the bumper.
I fabricated the gen holder from aluminum angle.
Gen rides well and is useable in place. Not much noiise, but too much vibration when running on eco mode. Much smoother and tolerable on full. Also running on propane from main supply.
I would like to know what others have used for rubber shock mounting.

Bumper mount generator

Harbor Freight has a bumper mount carrier with rails around it ..... Works perfectly with my Sportsmen 2000 geny bolted down ..... I cut a Tote bottom out and slide it over when not in use ... Nobody knows its there ...... Words of warning make sure your bumper is welded well ..... Amazon sells the 4 inch mount clamped to the rear bumper

Colorado have you used that generator you posted the Amazon link for? That's about what I'm looking for. I'm 5'2" and while I CAN lift a heavier generator, I'd rather not. Will it run an A/C?

I bought one of the type that goes over the propane tanks. Generator is 106lbs and would have to be removed in order to take the propane tanks off to fill them. No way.
