Is it possible to buy a good trailer ...

Is it possible to get a good trailer right of the bat ?

Im almost ready to buy our new Jayflight 29RKS but man o man I'm scared to buy a pile of junk ...

We are done fixing the whitehawk 2014 but we need a trailer a bit bigger for our annual snowbirding sessions ( 3 months in florida.)

Jayco has been very good to us in the pass , but how are they now regarding warranty since Thor is in the picture.

BTW I am blessed we have a great dealership.... decision decision.... 35000 k canadian with tax for stick and tin with luan and staplers ... decision decision ......

The odds are in your favor. You have to remember that most on JOF did not have major issues with their units. And as many have mentioned, including me, your dealer is the key to good warranty service.

Thats like asking can I go to the casino and win big tonight, odds are no. Why dont you just rent a house in FL for the three months. I have friends that have rentals in FL and they only get $1500-2000 a month with all utilities included. I sure could not live in a TT for that long.

I understand your analogy to the casino thats what I think sometimes, now in regards of renting...nahhhh .... its more comfy but far from what we like, i wouldnt trade our resort and friends for a balcony ... for us 3 months in a TT is a piece of cake, most of the time we live outside !! we go in to sleep and watch the late news .... but hey thanks for your input, all idea are good :-)

I would not be to concerned if you have a good dealer. My dealer Is Camping World. Never again. I would consider a tent from Walmart first.

We stay in our TT for 6 months a year work kamping. I would purchase another Jayco in a heartbeat.. The VAST majority are great units and if you have a good dealer your home free. Even after Thor not much has changed at Jayco.. When I have asked questions we get answers, when we were under warranty, things were taken care of, and we did not purchase from a local dealer.

Go for it, I too would rather spend my time in MY TT than in any house or condo..

What is your Budget???
Mine was Less then $10,000.00.
You'll find great products out there in the higher end. Keep in mind even high end products have issues.
I'm happy with mine but I do carry with me a tube of self leveling seal and a can of Pro-Flex RV...along with tools for every nut and bolt...
I would buy Jayco again!

I would call Jayco dealers in the area of Florida where you stay and ask them if they would warrantee a unit that was purchased where you live. a some will some will not but you’ll have an idea what you getting into. Also if you’re handy and you need a part while you’re in Florida your dealer might be able to send it to you and have you install it yourself

I would never buy from them either. They tried to screw me over on two potential purchases which I saw right through and backed out before I was taken advantage of. Saw where they actually stole parts of one customers RV that was in for service and sold part to another customer.

I think unless you want a lot of down time, you are going to need to be somewhat proficient at small DIY repairs. It is a lot of money to spend.

It is also nice to be in your own home wherever you are!

Call me nuts but here's my theory - look at the stickers inside and out. I'm talking about the ones that are supposed to stay on the TT forever. If they appear to be slapped on a bit crooked, beware. Take a look at devices and appliances that should be square to the framing around them. If they are off a bit, beware. The shift crew that built that one was off, too. Maybe it was a Monday or the day after a holiday. Maybe the crew was mad at the foreman. Who Knows.

If a worker doesn't care how something looks that is visible, what's the chances that person cares about things you can't see...

What do off-kilter stickers and devices say about what is acceptable to the company?

We never had trouble while wintering in FL when we needed service. There are several mobile service centers that JAYCO works with. Camping Connection in Kissimmee is one, they are owned by Lippert and are quite reliable. JAYCO has also reimbursed for warranty service if you can't find someone they work with directly.

We are in our 5th year of ownership of our camper and I have never returned to the dealer for an issue. There have been some minor problems but I have fixed them all myself. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Jayco.

I still think it would be a crap shoot these days but the odds are in your favor. Just think of the hundreds of trailers built today that you never hear about. Only the bad ones complain and rightly so. As stated above a good dealer and an extensive PDI are the key.

Bought a new fiver in 2005 and did it again in 2015. Same garbage in the HR as the Jayco Eagle.I would buy one 3 years old! We are 4 months from our camper being three. And that's about how long it is taking to fix everything again!

Is it possible? Consider our Initial quality and after two years polls and the results.
