Is my awning rolled up backwards?

I think there is a possibility that my awning is rolled up backwards. Should the awning be rolled over or under when it is in the full retracted position for traveling? I have noticed that the awing comes in much slower latetly than what I originally remember. When I push the button "In" in comes in and when I push the button "Out" it goes out.....HOW do I tell if it somewhere got rolled up backwards. IF it did how do I correct it.

Not sure how it could get rolled up backwards, but I`m used to manual awnings like this one:

Can you post pics with it extended, retracted, and somewhere in the middle?

It may be possible that you or someone hit the OUT button instead of the IN button when it was rolled up the last time. It should be rolled OVER it. Not sure but I think hitting the OUT button by mistake would cause it to roll UNDER and backwards. Extend it and try to roll it back IN.

When we were at a RV Dealer last year and a salesperson we showing us a very nice KZ Escalade 5th Wheel, he rolled the electric awning up backwards.
On the electric models if you hold the switch long enough it will roll all the way out and then start rolling back in and roll in up upside down.
The salesperson had no idea he did anything wrong !!!!!
(Note: We did not buy from that Dealer)

There is another thread titled "awning leak" which mentions awnings rolling up backwards. It is suppose to help keep water from collecting in the rolls, and apparently is ok to do.

On mine, if you stand at the rear of the TT looking forward, the roller rolls clockwise---I guess this what you are describing as rolled over.

Not sure if there is a correct way.

Also as Robert mentions, no matter in or out if you keep holding the button in one direction the motor keeps running and the awning will eventually start Rollin out/in rolling again.

Always wind it up over the roller. I thought the electric awnings could go either way but never have seen one.

Stand in doorway and feel the fabric when rolled up. If smooth over the top OK. Reversed and you'll feel the space where water can get in the roll. They wick enough water without this drainage.

Yes, my electric awning will roll up backwards if I hold the switch for too long when putting it out. Mighty weird but I've seen it. Never rolled it backwards much, though.

Thanks everyone, I've double checked and it ended up being rolled up correctly. Thanks for all the great information.

The awning will wind all the way up - backwards.

My wife did it today inadvertently. It sure was confusing for a few minutes until I figured out what happened.
