is thetford flap air tight ?

I have some doubts here. Can you please share your thoughts ?

When I'm done camping and after I do black tank flush, I plan to refill the black tank with around 2 gallons of water before I put the RV in storage. That way if there is still a toilet paper in black tank, it can dissolve while I leave the RV for weeks unused in storage.

But ,

I also usually close the roof vents so that rain water do not get in.
That makes the RV closed area with little chance of air to escape.

Will the water in black tank slowly evaporate in, and get inside the RV ?
Is that flap in thetford toilet air tight enough to prevent blank tank water evaporation to get in the RV interior ?

Can you share your best practice ?

If the flapper and gasket are clean, then little moisture will vent into unit. Install rain proof vent covers, and you can vent the unit 24/7. Mine have been open in some heavy thunderstorms, and not a drop entered unit.

1x for the vent covers. I've installed MaxxAir and MaxxAir II covers and have never had any rain come thru the vent. I leave the vent open pretty much all the time (including storage).

x 2 on MaxAir vent covers. I never close my vents, year round.

As far as evaporation, I imagine it could, but I doubt it would evaporate through the toilet seal. The bigger concern would be the always open black tank vent on your roof.

I was told to leave a small amount of water in the toilet bowl to keep the seal wet. I figure if it holds that water there wont be any fumes getting into the TT.

If I'm leaving my trailer for awhile I pour some rv Antifreeze into the toilet bowl to keep the seal I haven't checked but may evaporate slower. Water in the black tank may evaporate out through the roof vent, but it would be at a pretty slow rate, just a a little more water.

Rather than water left in bowl, may I suggest a seal lubricant one can buy. Its thick and should not evaporate as fast, plus will keep seal from drying.

I always leave water in mine. That's how I know it is air tight.
