Is this the original sealing tape on my 31BHDS's slideout ?

I want to start thinking about weatherproofing my 2007 31BHDS travel trailer - it needs a bit of attention.

Below is a photo of the back side of the face of one of the slideouts.

Is this the original way it was taped, or is that more likely someone's repair job, anyone know ?

Thanks !

Looks like most of the one's ive seen.. I would say original. Eternabond is a fantastic tape to use...It's what I use.

Yes, that looks original. Same type as mine. It's probably a knock off of Eternabond. I may replace mine with Eternabond in the next year or so before it gets like this.

Would you pull that tape off first or go over the top of it with eternabond?

Yes, original. Eternabond tape is the best if prepped properly. Slowly peal the existing tape, have a heat gun at the ready, you don't want to rip (or melt) the existing rubber roof. Clean thoroughly with mineral spirits. Ensure its dry and clean. Use a counter type heavy roller, you could rent (a roller) for the day. Don't forget the rubber seals. They should be conditioned too.

Ok, thanks you guys, for the feedback and tips.
I wasn't sure as this is my first trailer and I've only had it for 6 mos.
I'll get the Eternabond and have at it.

That's the most common problem for leaks in the slide-out wall. Remove as stated and clean thoroughly and re-apply Eterna-bond tape if possible with a slight (1/4 to 1/2 ") elevation on the frame.
