It's those wires again.

Okay, I posted this pic on here once before. They are supposed to be pre-wiring for a macerator pump according to Jayco.

I know squat about electricity, but doesn't a 12 volt system only have two wires?

What's the third wire for?

It could be intended to run to a switch. Otherwise it'd run all the time. Is there a switch location preinstalled somewhere in the unit?

So I finally got a chance to play with this for a few minutes yesterday. I broke out my multimeter and found that there is no power to these wires yet.

There are two empty fuse slots in the fuse panel. Since it is supposedly pre-wired, what are the odds of putting a fuse in those slots and getting power?

I don't think trying that could do any damage.

Not that I can find. I could be wrong of course, but it seems to me that a switch for a macerator pump would almost have to be close to the pump so you could cut power when the flow stopped.

Okay, I give up.

There is no power to these wires. There are three empty fuse slots in the fuse panel. I put a 20 amp fuse in each one and tested the wires. No power. I even plugged the trailer into the truck, turned on the lights and tested them because the dealer said they were "capped off running light wires. That didn't make sense to me, but I was willing to try anything.

I've looked all over the inside and can't find any sort of switch that has a function that I haven't already identified. I guess I'll contact Jayco again. They said that it was pre-wiring for a macerator pump, so maybe they can tell me how to energize them.

Call Jayco with your Vin number and ask for the 12Vwiring schematic. Every wire in you tt is color coded, and matched the diagram.

Thanks. I'll do that.

I'll need help with that since I'm colorblind, but that would help.

Got schematics from Jayco

I've never uploaded a PDF, so I'm not sure if this will be able to be read. If it is legible, can someone with electrical knowledge makes sense of this and possibly tell me what I might be able to do to get power to those wires?

Look at either page of your PDF. You will see a Macerator 30 amp double pole single throw relay. That is what matched up to the wires you pictured.

According to the schematic the red/white should come directly from the battery positive through a 30 amp fuse.

The brown is a switched ground that comes from the macerator switch.

The red gets energized through the relay and sends power to the macerator pump.

They used a switched ground so unless the switch is installed and turned to the on position you will not complete a circuit with those three wires.

Your picture looks like the wires are located under the trailer and the pdf files states the relay is installed either :

Hello, So how did you end up getting it to work. I have an octane 222 with prewiring for macerator. large red, smaller red, and brown wire. I have a switch to install with it just not sure how to do it.

My WH 28RL has those exact wires coming out of the glacier package cover, almost right above the black/grey dump on the drivers side.

Macrosill, if I am reading your description correctly no power flows through the relay unless the switch is closed? Thanks.
