J-Steel Sofa?

It appears there is plenty of space that could be used for storage under our sofa but it isn't accessible, at least I can't find away? Is there a way to open the valence in front with out destroying it? Really, seems there should be drawer there like on the sleeper sofa with inflatable mattresses.

Our sofa has a storage drawer under it.

Our Designer 5er has the same problem - lots of space under the J-steel, but no opening in front to use it. We have a lot of other space available, but, if needed, we raise the bed part of the J-steel to a 45 degree angle, and hold it up while squeezing the stuff into the space. Incidentally, the way this sofa is upholstered, there is no way to make a front opening without removing the fabric.

The front fabric panel of ours is attached by a couple of metal hooks that go over a pipe that crosses the front and access can be had by simply swinging it up. We access this space by doing what tinlizzie23 does (raising the seat to a 45 degree angle) and then swing up the panel. Then you can simply slide items along the floor and under the couch.

When you look at the pics you will see " cafe clips" holding the original valance cover( now cut in 2- 3ft pcs) on to the pce of electric tubing. Larry

On my 23 FB I just raised the couch a little and the front valance lifted up with no problem.
