I did all the time on my last trailer, but this time the guy at the dealer said there was no need to since the foot is up higher than the hitch, so far I haven't on this set up.

On m jack there are several holes ou can set the "foot" height on and I usually set the foot to make it so I have to raise the jack less. Then when I raise the jack for towing, it is simple to take the foot off an way. I think in my case it is just easier to take off the foot instead of re positioning it. It has a quick release on it and takes less time than trying to raise the jack all the way up.
