I carry a pair of bottle Jacks with some extra cribbing just in case. I carry 1 in my truck and the second in my trailer...

Anderson Rapid Jack might be an option for you. I have one and discovered it doesn’t lift quite enough to get the adjacent tire free of the ground. I solved that problem by placing it on top of cribbing.
I like the ARJ cause it’s easy to use and super stable.

That's a pretty cool idea. I may have to invest in a couple of these!

Simple answer, Yes! Most likely your TV jack will not work. Bottle jack, blocking or even a Trailer Aide is useful.

You should never jack the TT up by the axle, always lift the frame, right before or after the wheel. My recommendation is to buy a bottle jack that is capable of 2+ times the weight of the TT, this will make jacking up easier.

You can pull the TT's good tire up onto a few blocks or onto the Trailer Aide. This will minimize the distance you have to lift the TT. If you have a wide axle stance this may not work.

Also make sure to have a lug nut wrench that works on the TT, they are not universal. In my TV, I carry an 18" breaker bar (1/2") plus the three sockets that fit all my vehicles and trailers. If I was to buy a new breaker bar, I would buy a 24" bar.

Why not jack up by the axle?

Axle tubes are hollow and will crush and or bend under the load...

I am not saying you should do as I do but I put a small piece of 2x6 under the axle to spread the load out and have never had a problem. As they say, your mileage may vary.

I jack up under the leaf spring not the axle with a wood block 2x4 or 2x6 . No issues so far. The frame is pretty high of the ground on my jayfeather 23rbm

I carry a home made ramp. I took 2x6’s and screwed 5 or 6 of them on top of each other with one end 90 degree and the other end angled. I can drive up or back up the ramp with the good tire. the ramp will lift the other tire of the ground so I can change it. We used this all the time with flat bed trailers on the farm. Works great for me.

I use a bottle jack under the axles but I made a device to cradle the axle and it slides over the jack for stability. I jack just inside the Spring "U" bolts

That's what I plan to use too.

I had the same thoughts over the last year and just purchased the "trailer aid". https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/t...8810p.html#srp. Neat idea, now getting my spare from under the toy hauler is another story.

That and lots of cribbing and the bottle jack from my one ton has me covered.

For dual axle, from all I read, special ramps are fastest/ easiest, especially on side of road; loosen lugs, pull good tire up onto ramp, change tire, back off of ramp and tighten lugs to SPEC TORQUE; easy to find on internet? Luck

They can be “iffy” with the spread axles. I made a ramp to elevate an axle 6 inches and it was enough for one tire but not for the other. I now use a hydraulic ram jack and place the jack below the U-bolts of the axle. With that method I protect the axle with a thin piece of wood and use plywood beneath the base of the jack when on firm ground or else it can be pushed into the ground. Make sure you measure your clearance for a jack that you might want if you do this.
