Jay Flight 25BHS

We are actively starting the upgrade search. As of now the JayFlight 25BHS is on the top of the list. Anyone out there have one? Opinions, good, bad indifferent?

Well, it really depends on what you're looking for. How old are you and how many people are going and how old are they? What kind of vehicle do you have? Are you looking to get off the Island?

We are towing with a 2010 f 150 with the 5.4l and 3.55 rear, rated to tow 9600. I'm not really looking to go over the 7500lb mark. Mostly it will the wife, me, and our soon to be son (due next month) and every now and again the brother in law. Most of our trips are off LI with in a 4 hour radius.

When we were shopping we looked at it along with 28BHS and 26BH, really liked the floor plan pf both slide models. However we had a 1/2 ton at the time I started to get nervous about the tounge weight, probably could have gotten away with the 28BHS not the 25BHS but ultimatly went with the no slide 26BH for weight reasons. Now we upgraded TV and the family has grown to 3 kids, really wish we had the slide. Reluctantly thinking about the 29QBH so we have bunk room for the kids and friends...plus a place for thier mess to be contained :-)

That said, and I know you aren't looking at the 26BH, we have had no issues in the year we have had it. A couple of very small items like loose trim that I just fixed myself, overall very happy with the build quality of out unit.

I live on Long Island as well. Take a look at WES Trailer Sales in Wading River. I bought a Jayflight from them and they serviced it as well. They helped me sell the Jayflight when I purchased my Jayco Eagle. They just finished repairing my Eagle after I was hit by a wrong way driver on Route 25. They are a really great bunch of guys, who are honest and know the RV business better than anyone on LI.

Be careful with how big of a TT you get with your current F150. I have a 2007 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi, 3.92 rear and factory tow package. My Jayco Eagle 256RKS is smaller and weighs less than a Jayflight 25BHS and I feel I'm at the limits of my truck.

I have a2013 25bhs that I tow with a 2012 f150 Ecoboost SCrew with max tow package. Tows very well, though I haven't headed west into any mountains yet. The trailer us great! Tiny bathroom and very little floor spce in bedroom for dressing, but TONS of space if stuck inside on a rainy day! We bought a $60 ladder from e-trailer for the bunk and both the 4 y.o. & 6 y.o. have no problems getting up top. My wife says the bed and bathrooms remind her of a cruise ship because they are so small, but the boys can spread out on the floor in the main area to play and we can still move around with no problems.

The trailer sits REALLY high. The coupler is on the bottom of the a-fame rather than on top. This makes it easy to dial in the w.d. bars (Reese dual cam), but you may want to consider electric stabilizers as you have to crank the jacks pretty far, even on a level sight. Also, get the bigger A/C, lots of volume inside to keep cool. Only real negative is the location of the hit water heater & bypass -- all the way in the back under the bunks. Pretty tough to get to, but only need to access 2x a year, so no biggie.

This is definitely our perfect trailer. We're happy to sacrifice space in the bath & bed rooms for such a liveable trailer.

I have a 2008 26BHS G2 that I purchased used in 2010 and I love it. Although, since I really didn't need the bunks, I took the bunks out and enlarged the bathroom. (see thread in forum 'help me remodel my bath') I tow it over the passes in WA state with a 2010 F150 w/ a 5.4 and the tow package. I hardly know the trailer is there except on the steeper hills.

If you're looking at the 25BHS then I would highly suggest looking at the 28dsbh. It's the White Hawk line. It is a very similar layout to the 25bhs, but there are many great additional features. Here are the pros of the 28dsbh.

3' more length AND it is about 500 lbs LIGHTER since it is fiberglass instead of metal exterior.
Much, MUCH more counter space
Outdoor fridge is standard
Outdoor bathroom access
Bunks beds are full size instead of the smaller singles on 25bhs

We bought the 25BHS last year and we love the floor plan. True, the bathroom is a little tight, but the huge living area is a must have when you have a toddler (we have a 3 year old daughter). I think the 26RKS also has a bunk option in the slide out - worth a look.

We purchased our 2011 25BHS in Feb 2012. We looked at the 26 (non slide) and the 28BHS and for us (me, the wife and 2 boys - 11 and 16) it was more than comfy on the too nasty to be outside days. We pulled it from Oshkosh WI to St Louis MO and then to Chicago with my 2011 1/2 Suburban without any issues. We are pulling it to Washington DC this Summer. It's a great layout!

We have a 2011 25BHS and love it. We have twin 4 year old kids and they love the space to play inside. The bathroom is a little small but it is very functional. We live in Montana and ours has the full foil wrap and enclosed/heated underbelly with the big furnace. We boondock all the time so the extra clearance of this trailer is very good for us. Also the sewer drain is up tight to the frame and isn't prone to being ripped off. We looked at literally 50 or more trailers and this one almost met every item we had listed out that we wanted.

We upgraded to the 29QBH last season and never looked back

One thing for the OP to consider - if you're planning on having more kids within a couple of years of each other, the oldest might not quite be big enough to hang out on the top bunk (I think my 4 y/o will finally try it this year). You might consider a model with a lower full bunk in case they have to double up for a while. My 4 y/o has been on the couch the last 2 seasons with the twins (now almost 2) in pack-and-plays on my custom platform between the bunks (but I'll admit twins is a bit of a special situation).

It's worked out pretty well so far!

I really like the Jay Flight line. Lots of good plans if you put some thought into what you need. I'd love to have a trailer with more "living space," but at the end of the day bunks just make more sense for us. Getting the "super slide" really helps maximize the living space you do have.
