Jay Flight SLX door material

We have a 2019 248RBSW we’ve had for 10 days. The door is extremely difficult to close and the indoor handle is made of plastic. I worry about breaking the handle every time I close the door and it isn’t getting any better. I’ve checked the alignment of the striker plate and angle of the plate and it is as good as I can make it.

I would like to add a marine-grade door pull that I can pull a little bit harder with but I would like to know what is inside the plastic skin. I drilled a 1/16” hole and I couldn’t feel anything in there. I’m thinking it’s just foam.

Does any one know if it is wood in there?

Take the lock body off and you could see inside the hole what it is made of.

My guess is whatever is cheapest LOL

Take a look at the striker plate on the trailer side. Ours was installed backwards at the factory, constantly causes the door to stick, and is a PITA to close.

Thought I would just flip it myself, however when flipped it looks like crud because I will have to drill new holes for the screws and the old ones are exposed. One more thing on our list for our warranty visit in sept.

The inside of my door is styrofoam. I had a a similar issue and I found that a very light coat of heavy duty grease on the strike plate every other month solved the issue.

My door was hard to close until I sprayed a little white lithium on the latch and worked it in. Now it closes easy.

The door on our trailer is also foam. When I added the Lippert Solid step the gas shock that held the door open couldn't be used so I had to add a door catch. I made a plate that was a bit larger than the base of the catch, drilled clearance holes for the 4 screws and bolted the two together with 2" long screws, Solid as a rock.
