Jay Flight Spare Tire

I just wanted to pass this along in case it can help someone else...

When we purchased our 2015 Jay Flight 264BHW, we were told a spare tire was not standard. I took it as truth and thought nothing of it.

When I learned we were receiving the 2016 version instead, I contacted Jayco directly for grins since there was no information on the new model online. In the weeks leading up to the delivery, I started thinking more and more about the spare tire so I asked for a spec sheet and asked them directly about the tire.

Turns out, it's standard.

Now, a part of me wants to assume that up until 2016, the spare tire WASN'T standard on the 264BHW and perhaps the dealer just didn't know. But I have a feeling it's exclusion had more to do with the bottom line than plain ignorance.

I emailed my dealer, forwarded the info from Jayco, and tomorrow we're picking up our spare tire with mounting bracket at no cost.

This may be a no brainer for those who have purchased many RVs but for the newbies like myself, I'd suggest emailing the manufacturer directly about the model you're interested to learn what is standard and what is not so you can ensure you're getting everything you're paying for!

PS: I forgot to mention in case anyone was curious, the spare tire is standard for ALL 2016 Jay Flight models.

The 264BHX is the Jayflight SLX series. That is the less expensive/less options series. A standard Jayflight came with a spare.

Exactly the point. The stripped down version comes with a spare tire as a standard option. Something most people wouldn't think is included for the price point...

This is correct - my 2015 195RB Baja which is a 7-foot wide model included the spare tire. It does indeed show as a $180 option for the 8-foot wide SLX models on Jayco's website.

When I purchased my year old Jayco Jayflight Bungalow I was told that it had no spare. Saying something like "if it doesn't have a spare I don't want the trailer" got one installed on a carrier on the back bumper. It is how you ask.

I was going to pull it from Mt. Vernon, Wash. to Casa Grande, Az. and a spare was needed. Turns out it was not needed but I had it just in case.
