Jayco 28 BHBE (wait for a 2014 or go with a 2013) Changes???

Does anyone know when Jayco will build their 2014 28 BHBE and what CHANGES will be made from the 2013 model year? Seeing that this is a new model and most people say not to go with a first model year production camper so they have a chance to work out the bugs. I cannot find anything on their site. The BHBE was not if the first brochure they put out on the Jay Flights but it was in the brochure on the 2nd printing. Thanks if anyone has any information.

The new model year production usually begins late April or May. The website does not usually update to the new model year until August.

A dealer should be able to tell you the changes for 2014. I know the last run of 19Hs is going on now and they will be done mid April. When I purchased my Z I could take the unit on the lot, which I did, or order one. If I ordered the wood color would have been cherry. I liked the oak so I took the unit on the lot.

Like the above posters said, May is usually the change your best bet is contacting Jayco personally at that time. From my experience Jayco was able to give me details on model changes, within 24 hrs via email, my dealership was clueless, and useless when it came to the model year changes. When my 2013 showed up at the dealership they conducted tours so everyone at the dealership knew what the new changes were.

That is sad. My dealership knows what is happening with lines they carry.

Change is not always a good thing. When we were looking at Jayco TT's the past 2 months we noticed that some models had a sort of shiny countertop/kitchen table look that we didn't care for. I want to say that it was the newest models there but I can't say for sure.

The dealers I have contacted say they do not know what the changes are or will be. Also I have a email out to Jayco and waiting for a reply. I do know that if we would have waited another year for the camper we have now we would not have liked it at all. So that's why I was trying to decide on either 2013 or 2014.

If you really like the 2013 model and can get one, I would say go for it.

I know where to find a 2013, it's on the dealers lot, same place I had looked at it last December, it hasn't moved and the price went $500

I agree 100% our unit went through a complete exterior color change, as well as discontinuing the interior color we wanted, discontinuing of the technology package we added and a few smaller changes. Not to say they were all bad changes, got a skylight in the bathroom that lets me take a shower more comfortably, highly reflective diamond plate at front of TT now painted and less reflective. My wife tends to like the new outside color scheme better than the original, remember happy wife, happy life.

doc sounds like you found a good dealership, wish I could say the same about mine, I emailed Jayco, found the changes to my yet to be built trailer, along with color swatches that my dealership didn't have yet, and went to dealership to discuss changes line by line to ensure we were still getting what we wanted. Dealership wanted me to pick a new interior color, sight unseen said they needed it when they called me so our trailer could be built, trailer hadn't even been scheduled to be built yet.

Just picked up our 2014 28BHBE and there were a number of changes that I found compared to what I was looking at few months back in 2013 model on the lot, if some of you are still interested. Some of the changes, I'm not crazy about and some we like better. Starting with the dinette, the 2013 was extendable U shaped and the 2014, while still U shaped, is not extendable, but it does have easier access to storage underneath. Similar to the Whitehawk under seat storage if your familiar. My Wife likes it better - I don't. Colors are changed, more darker colors - I preferred the lighter colors of the '13 model, but that is personal preference. Couch has a flip down bed option instead of air bed option. This is not a jack knife couch, but it actually folds out - similar to a home convertible couch and uses the foam sections from the couch as the bed. We like this change since there will most likely be less issues compared to the air bed and feels good with good room. I think the outside light is now built into the inner part of the awning instead of separate outside light. Dealer told us the counter tops are different, but I don't remember them looking too different.

Those are the changes that I can remember, but could be more. Layout is still the same with lots of interior room and spacious double over double bunk beds and huge bath and shower. Will be taking it out in a few weeks and looking forward to giving it a spin. Hope that helps you guys thinking about getting a '13 model compared to a '14.

Thanks, will do. Just have a pair of external shots for now the day we brought it home and now we have it secured in our driveway with not enough room to open out the slide for some internal shots. Will post up when I upload them and some get some better shots once we get on a camp site.

Noticed a few more things that were removed on the 2014, there are no curtains for the bunk beds, they added a shower curtain and took away the shower doors, they moved all the house switches to the wall in front of the sink, they removed the in floor heat ducts and put the air ducts in the cabinets so you lost 2 drawers for storage, the 2014 only has one light over the bed, ours has 2 kinda reading lights, if you can find a 2013 it would be a better choice

Our 2014 28BHBE has the side windows on the slide..... It makes a huge difference in letting in light and was a factor in deciding over the whitehawk, which doesn't have the side windows in the slide.

Unless we have a transition/hybrid '13/'14, our 2014 has the curtains for both bunks, shower doors, floor heat ducts and two lights, so you might definitely want to look over the unit prior to committing. Would definitely would be hugely disappointed if these were eliminated from the features list. Maybe some cost cutting being phased in?

I just posted some interior shots, not the best lighting and the slide is about a foot short of all the way open in my pic thread if interested - link below. You can see the shower doors are there along with the side windows in the slide etc....
