jayco 285 BHWS shower sky light ideas

Noticed the sun beating down pretty hard in Feb through the shower skylight. It's not deep enough for the reflective pillows i've seen advertised. What are some of the remedies you all have done to cut down or the reflect the sun and heat from beaming in? Thanks

Post 48 of my thread. Extreme for some, but I hate skylights as they let in heat.

Outside is coated with a material from ProGuard coatings. Hopefully will be ditching the dome completely this year.

I've read where people will cut some Reflectix and fill the opening(s) and cover their windows.

We used Reflectix on our old pop up and it really helped with heating and cooling.

Are use a large piece of black foamcore board and I hold it over the skylight with a curtain rod when we are not using it and that keeps out all the sun

For those that don't know, you can order your rig with the skylights deleted. If you have to cover them to keep it cool, they serve no purpose. Mine had them, but I still got rid of them, kind of. The domes will be gone this year hopefully.

Problem with that, Big John is that I wouldn't be able to stand up straight in the shower.

Indeed troutslayer. I'm not that tall but have had that issue before as well. In that case, what I did to my bath one is ideal. Inside of inner dome painted white and wrapped in reflectix, batten stuffed in between inner / outer domes and outside coated. Works well.

We usually like all the light we can get. However, sometimes that good light is accompanied with bad heat. We have a sections of reflective windshield sunshade that fit inside in the shower skylight. A couple of pieces of blue painter's tape hold in place. Not elegant, but easily installed/removed as needed.

I only use the inside shields i made when it is parked and we are not camping. Keep the heat out and keep the sun from yellow-ing the inside of the shower stall
