Just roof damage, what do i need and how much would it cost?

Welcome Aboard, sorry to here about your fire.

It is hard to answer your question without more details. A large Pinnacle will be a lot different than a Popup. You posted in the Travel Trailer section, so I suspect it is somewhere in between.

Most TT's have a very thin rubber roof. Basically all the top molding pieces, AC, roof vents, etc need to be removed. Fix any damage. Then stretch a new roofing membrane on. Edge staple, install the trim details, using lots of butyl tape, and mostly self leveling Dicor caulk. Could up grade to eternabond in some places, to reduce maintenance.

Personally, if I had to replace the roof, I would look at a sprayed on roof, similar to spray liners for pickup trucks. You would eliminate all future maintenance.

Details of what year and model TT would be helpful. Pictures of what type of damage can also be very helpful.

I am curious what caused the fire damage. Was it something like the AC unit failed, or just bad luck and a hot ember landed on it and caused isolated damage. If it is just a small isolated spot, you could just use a piece of eternabond for a patch.

Pictures are kinda odd on this forum.

• You have to click on the paperclip on the top row.

• Then click "Choose File" in the popup, find the image you want.

• You can only have one image per "Choose File" listed

• When done click "Upload"

• Close the window

Here comes the odd part. Make sure your mouse is where every you want the images inserted.

• Click on the paper clip again

• In the popup choose the file(s) you want or click all files.

Odd looking fire from an AC. Looks like the whole roof was exposed to uniform heat, like being in an oven.

The damage does not look bad, could have been much much worse.

Average cost is estimated at $300+ per lineal foot. It looks like the plywood underneath is ok.

Looks like you have a 2018, is it still under warranty? If the AC is what burned up I would think the damages should be covered. I'd contact your dealer immediately

Another thought is to cover the roof to keep rain or moisture from doing further damage. I imagine that the roof openings, skylight etc. may be damaged in addition ti the Air Conditioner.

I don't understand how that damage could be so extensive from an electrical fire. It appears that the whole membrane caught fire, from front to back. EDPM is supposed to be fire resistant:

Was a flammable liquid used to clean the roof? There has to be more to this story than just the AC unit catching fire and destroying the whole membrane. Why wasn't the roofing structure burned as well, especially if it was made out of wood?

Excuse me for being skeptical. I am sorry for your loss and if in fact the EPDM material did burn that easily then every RV on the road with that roof material is at risk.

well if it is a failure of the AC unit and nobody touched it sense it left the factory and you are the first owner... back to the dealer with it... let them sort it out....
