Jayco Jay Feather X213 and ground clearance

We are looking for a travel trailer and have found that the Jayco X213 is a reasonable floorplan- I am, however, concerned about the ground clearance. Have other members had problems with ground clearance? We find ourselves on rough back roads, logging roads and many out of the way places. The low ground clearance with the small tires are a real concern and potentially a deal breaker for me with respect to this trailer. Any information is appreciated.

Hello, we have a 2012 x213 and so far love it. We also go on some back roads and for the most part we do not have clearance issues. We have hit the hitch a few times. And only once, we spun the cap off of the sewer hose connection. Something that I'm sure I could have avoided if I was paying closer attention. That being said, I don't think I would ever take it down a road where you would need a high clearance vehicle. That just seems like a good way to break a really nice trailer.

Does it have the optional 2" lift kit? My old Kiwi was really low to the ground also but once I knew how to deal with it, it was never a problem. The sewer connection was only 3" off the ground. We towed it from WI to CA, and from WI to Yellowstone and never once scraped the drag bars. The X20E sits higher and may even have the lift kit. I could probably even fit 14" tire on it if need be. Ask the dealer about lift kit and a 14" tire swap.

Mine seems fairly low to the ground. Probably has to do with being an Ultra Lite...they keep it lower to the ground for aerodynamics.

We really enjoy ours, and chose it because of the floorplan, but its Definitely not a rough road trailer. I found you have to be fairly cautious with regards to the clearance. I wiped off one of the original rear stabilizers on ours exiting our driveway (about a 6 inch round curb) so I really watch any obstacles closely for clearance. I also bought a grey water/sewage tote to use while camping and found that the sewer drain is too low to drain directly into the tote unless we are on a site with a high enough pad so I can put the tote down over the edge for use. If I was looking for a back road unit I would look for something with a conventional spring suspension. I believe that the Outback 210 has a similar floorplan on a conventional suspension and larger wheels, but its not a Jayco LOL.

I have a 2012 with the standard suspension and have not had a problem with clearance. I pull it with a 4x4 F250 and it sits up high enough to go over some rough dirt roads and through shallow mud and water but I sure would not tow over rocky ground. The Jayco Baja popup might be a better choice if you want to get waaaay off road. I park it and then drive the truck where I want to go off road.

I do plan to put the 2' lift kit on it this year so that I can use the 15" off road style tires and rims when we go to Utah next year, but so far I really haven't had any trouble anywhere in the S.E. U.S.

This X213 is a great trailer with an excellent floor plan and the king bed is really comfy at the end of the day (or any other time).

New member here. Looking at the 2013 x213. Last one on the lot, clearance. I do a week each summer in a remote area of BC (near Quesnel Lake). I have to travel about 15 mins on a logging road with decent pot holes. I was wondering if anyone else could provide some more info as to how this trailer handles it.
