It sleeps very well. However if I had it to do over, I'd have gotten an 8" model. The 10" is tall and very heavy.
Yes, even the 3-inch foam was heavy enough that the bed struts don’t quite hold the bed up on its own with all the bedding, blankets etc on top. Always something.

Amazon has replacement gas struts for less than $25 for the pair, available in many weight options, so consider upgrading. They are easy to replace.

So far the 100# struts that came with my 23RB are holding the bed up fine. But it's less that 1 year old. The "life span" of those struts may be relatively short though.

After sleeping on the ground for over 30 years, the 4” mattress that came with my trailer will be like sleeping on a cloud.

Our bed struts have held up for 6+ years. My wife seems to have half the world stored in there and is always leaving it up for short periods of time. I have told her to try and not do that but so far it has not affected the longevity of them.

Our 195RB did not come with struts. Can someone provide a link to a pair that would work for our bed? How hard to install?

Hey BandC,

We’ve knocked out some 28 states and 20K this last year. Right away we knew the mattress in and of itself wouldn’t do.

We purchased a blue egg crate memory foam mattress topper from Amazon. Worth every penny of that $80ish dollar investment.

Barring our kids or dog from disturbing the peace, we sleep like a baby on it.

Good luck!

Tory

Here are a couple of threads regarding struts for the 195RB bed that may help:

This is the replacement for my bed:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007MUY656..._t1_B0041EBSX4

The bed struts are 20 inches in length extended and come in various weight/lift capacity. These are 120 lbs each and work great for a fairly heavy memory foam mattress, but might be a bit too much (difficult to push down) for a lighter mattress.

You will also need the mounting brackets shown in the "Frequently bought together" section on that Amazon page - assuming the bed for your Jayco is like most.

I don't think they are particularly difficult to install if you see some photos of mounted bed struts on this forum to use as a general guide, like on this thread: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...uts-28039.html

Over the years we have owned a Coachman, Lyton, Rockwood and now the Jayco. None of those brands have had a good mattresses in them. We always put a topper on them. Just saying that is a industry wide problem.

I must have had beginners luck when I reinstalled the struts after dividing the pass through storage from the under bed storage. They were extended of course. I just mounted them like they were before. Everything worked well.

Just like a mattress for the house, you get what you pay for. I think I paid $450 for the Brentwood home 11” memory gel regular size queen that we currently have in our 2016 Jay flight. In the big picture, $450 is not a lot of money when it comes to a decent mattress. I consider it one of the best upgrades I’ve done.

We've camped in it for a total of 8 nights since we bought it about a month ago and its already got holes on both sides where we lay. My wife refuses to sleep on it so we're going to have to shop for a new mattress.

Has anyone else had this problem?
I bought a new 2017 WhiteHawk... used it for a 2 week camping trip ..mattress was sagging and indented..followed procedure for warranty claim with dealer and JAYCO ..ended up getting $65.00 for a new mattress! What a joke warranty is .. was told at time of purchase mattress was an upgrade.. best in the industry! Totally disappointed with JAYCO and dealer! Never again!

Before you call it on Jayco, have you looked at mattresses in other low end RV's? I think Jayco's may be 'top of the line' for low end RV's. One of ours previous to this had a simple 4" foam mattress. Even higher end RV's tend to have bad mattresses. It's not until you get into the coaches or top line trailers that you get decent mattresses.

And, yes, I suspect $65 is about what the factory mattress is worth.

If you want a good mattress then plan on buying one after the sale, or, tell the dealer what you want and they will buy one for about double the price you can get it for.

PS I am surprised that mfgs like Sena will put their name on these mattresses.
