Jayco ?quality? control
Ok, my 26bh just turned 2 years old, furnace went out 2 weeks ago, service man came out to fix it, took it out, and it was soaking wet inside and under it, water was coming in through the exhaust port, he looked at that, and it was installed upside down so the louvers were funneling the water inside, so far not fixed, so if you have a 2016 jayco, you should look to see if yours is installed right

Hmmm... You made me look. Mine is installed the same way, but I've never had a water issue (that I know of) and furnace has worked fine in wet weather. It's dark now. I'll have to take a closer look later this week.

My furnace exhaust port (2015 27RLS) is installed the same way. I think this is correct. The word "HOT" is upright, not upside down. No issues at all as far as water getting in. Hopefully we can get confirmation that the exhaust port installation in your posted picture shows that it is correct.

"HOT" and the Attwood "A" is right side up up on his too. So if it is wrong that means Attwood had them punched incorrectly if that is the problem.
JAYCO installed them right.

Mines a 2015, built in nov 2014, and never an issue. Same furnace and exhaust. The way that piece is made along with the furnace, any water that gets in should drain out. I’ve never had an issue and have pulled that piece every time it’s gotten pretty soaked just to check. I was concerned upon purchase.
In some models, they put the black flush anti-siphon valve in that area, and that’s a definite fail at some point. Seen it happen on this forum. It may be what you mentioned, but I’d be digging a bit deeper. According to Atwood, that mounting position is perfectly fine, and in my case and numerous others, it has been.
This is coming from a guy that does all his own repairs and knows these things inside out.

I think mine is installed with the openings facing upward as well. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

My 2015 28BHBE has it mounted that way as well. Please let us know what you find out from Jayco.

believe me, it was soaked under the furnace, the plywood it sat on had to be thrown away, he didnt know if it was an atwood flaw or a jayco, he is checking, but there is no way that water could possible NOT get inside

I had water leak into the furnace and drip onto the breaker box and floor though not nearly the amount described here. It was enough that I had to pull the breaker box out to soak up the water behind it and dry things out though. That was due to the trailer sitting slightly lower on the side away from the furnace just enough that the water could drip into the exhaust pipe and slowly run inwards. Consequently I now pay a lot of attention to how level it is side to side to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Mine is installed the same way and I just took the furnace out to clean and check it two weeks ago... not a trace of water and it was raining hard when I removed it. Sounds like the guy that made that comment is not familar with Atwood furnaces....or he would know that is correct, or he can't read up...And the round hole that the furnace slideds into would never meet up... its the ONLY way it can be installed..

A wedge shaped sheet metal vent cover could be made to extend out over the louvered portion and the existing top vent mounting screws could be used to secure it. Correctly louvered venting could be added.

Ok, just got off the phone with atwood, it is installed correctly and they know water gets in, it is supposed to be contained inside the furnace by some sort of plastic and the bottom of the furnace siliconed BUT the silicone or plastic may develop a leak and it will flood under the furnace, they have known about this for years, to me it is unacceptable because it can totally destroy a rv floor. the tech guy said a quarter inch of water inside is not uncommon, now you tell me how this makes sense

that's what I thought, kinda like an outside house dryer vent, BUT these furnaces need X amount of air to run properly so the atwood guy said be careful there, cause I asked him about that, he said it would work just make sure alot of air can get in
