Jayco SLX 212QBW hot water tank valve busted

Hello fellow Jayco owners.

My wife and I are proud owners of a Jayco and went on our first camping trip. When we stopped at a rest stop we noticed water on the floor. Upon closer inspection, we noticed the bottom valve closest to the ground on our hot water tank busted. We think that the bumps on the road caused the tank to jar on the valve causing it to break. Anyone else heard of this. I am a little surprised Jayco would design this valve that would slightly touch the floor. The hot water tank setup an extra 2 inches would have prevented this issue.

Thanks for your input...safe travels

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State! Sorry to hear your valve has broken. Not saying it's not possible, but I've never seen a water heater that moved while in motion. Perhaps it was the plumbing itself that has some play in it. If yours is new, the dealer will warranty that repair. There's always the possibility it may have been damaged during installation at the factory. Good luck, and let us know how you make out with it.

X-2 I have had numerous rigs where the water heater sat directly on the floor. Unless all or most of the frame screws are missing I think it would impossible

It's possible that the fitting itself just had a hairline fracture and the bumps opened it up. It's rare but mechanical fittings have a 1% failure rate it's probably less but it happens that's why they test them after install.
