Jayflight 38bhds Propane Regulator

I have a Jayflight 38bhds, propane regulator has apparently gone out, I know there’s a recall for it, Dealer said it would replace it free, bring it in. The problem with that is I will cost over $200 in gas pulling it to the dealer. The regulator is a 6000 win tech dual. I notice on Amazon they have the same duals from $65 to $135 by different manufacturers. My question is how to pick the one that’s a compatible replacement?

Charlie,

Welcome to JOF

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but another JOF member may chime-in that can help.

The following two JOF threads address the regulator recall in detail, and may be helpful:

If its for an RV, I'd think they were all roughly the same size fittings. I'd just buy one on amazon with decent reviews that says it can be used on a RV and worst case return it. You could also compare to RV web sites as well.

It's an easy swap. You may also want the piece of mind of a higher quality regulator. My suggestion is contacting eTrailer.com for a recommendation and they will walk you through replacing it. It may cost you a couple bucks more but you will still save in gas.

Finally the dealer may ship you one free or for the cost of shipping.

Here's someone that asked the same question on etrailer. The equivalent JR Products regulator the tech references is on sale and in stock there.

Regulators routinely fail, recall or not. When we bought our 2015 Jayco, a complete new setup was one of the spare parts I immediately bought.

The oem lasted about 2 years. I replaced it in a matter of minutes with the parts that were previously assembled. The next day I ordered a new set.

What I did was to look at the existing parts and copy down the part numbers and manufacturer. It was a simple replacement with an ebay lookup.

I agree. I carry a new regulator in my spare parts bin as well as new pigtails.

I've never given my regulator a second thought. The original on my trailer built in 2010 is still doing its job. It was originally set up to accommodate two pigtails, one for each tank. But when one failed, instead of replacing both I plugged up one of the pigtail connection ports and went with a single one. I just move the tank connector from tank to tank when changing tanks.

I probably just jinxed it and it will fail tomorrow...
