Smile Just placed my order - Jayflight G2 29BHS - Extended Warranty

Hi All,
I am glad to be a new member to the forum. I just placed an order for a new Jayflight G2 29BHS. I am very excited. I got all the option with the exception of the 4 electric stabilizer jacks based on the recommendation of the dealer. I will plan on using an cordless drill.

I was offered an extended warranty for an additional 5 years of total bumper to bumper coverage for a total of 7 years. I have time to decide and I am curious if other think this piece of mind would be worth $950?

Thanks.

Weclome to the forum bgarv29BHS and congrats on your new Jayflight G2 29BHS. Personally I don't believe in any extended warranties. Sales people will show you an all encompassing bruchure that looks good at first. But there are usually so many loopholes and items/circumstances that are not covered written into the actual contract. IMHO, save the $950.

I agree with wiscampsin, save your money and put it in an account to earn interest.

Congrats on your new TT!

2 things:

I'm assuming you will get an 18v or higher cordless drill. Watch the torque setting on that drill. If its set to high- like close to 20, when you wind up your stab. jack towards the TT and it stops, you can injure your wrist and arm if your not careful. It HURTS!

On the extended warranty: If it gives you peace of mind- do it. I've used mine 2x so far and the total costs of the repairs have easily exceeded the cost of the warranty. Most folks don't have them though. One other way to look at it though is for the $950.00, that will get you a new Yamaha 2000W genny!!!!

.......or a tank of gas

For the cost of extended warranty, I'd get a high quality Surge Protection (hard wired), wheel covers, AC cover (especially in snow regions) and a slide topper instead. Many appliances blow because of "dirty" power. For me, I've never had extended warranty. To me, they offer extended warranty to make money. Thus, they are "betting" the odds in their favor.

Welcome to the Jayco site bgarv. I think you will like the interaction with other owners here. I never buy extended warranties on anything but for some reason, I did buy it on my Jayco in 2008. Time has since expired on my factory warranty and I have yet to have a warranty issue with my 5er. I guess now, if I do have a problem, I will be glad I have it. But, it is still a "6 of one and half a dozen of the other" issue. Happy camping....when your G2 gets here.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum bgarv29BHS! I like your new tt!! We also ordered ours. It was an exciting time waiting for it to join our family. This was our first brand new tt in about 15 years, so we "talked" to a lot of people online in rv forums regarding purchasing an extended warranty. With Jayco having the full 2 year warranty (most companies do one year), other rv'ers who had extended warranties convinced us that anything that would go wrong, would probably happen in those first couple of years if you keep up with the maintanence etc. We opted not to buy the ext warranty. When do you pick up your tt?

I did not get it on mine either. I also suggest reading the fine print and check out the issuing company of the warranty. -Lee

I don't go for the extended warranties either. I'm on my third travel trailer, second Jayco and actually never had a problem I didn't take care of myself, so far.
Welcome aboard.

Sounds like the "no" vote wins. I also usually feel that extended warranties are not worth it especially with a quality product. I am sure that I will get several opportunities from some company to purchase an extension before the end of my 2 year Jayco warranty. I believe the camper will be out of the factory at the end of March and we can pick up the first week of April. Can't wait. My last travel trailer was a disappointment. It had a leak at the front seam that was near impossible to find and caused some delamintation, a bed I didn't fit in, and I hit my head on the ceiling. The leak made the camper smell also. I was not a real bad smell but it was annoying non the less. No where to go but up from that trailer!!
