Lap sealant on Eternabond?

I will be using 4” Eternabond tape to seal the front of my rubber roof where it meets the front fiberglass cap. Do y’all think it is necessary to seal the edges of the tape with Dicor lap sealant?

The Instructions say to do that.

I did not, and have had zero issues.

When I did Eternabond on my last trailer, I did not do that. No issues, the Eternabond maintains a really tight seal. I'm planning on doing Eternabond to my current trailer this summer and have no plans for Dicor as lap sealant.

I put a thin layer on the leading edges and tooled it with a cloth.

It looks better IMO and may help wind and rain from lifting the edges but that's my explanation. It is not really necessary from what I read but it does look smoother.

X2 - I did it on my edges for a cleaner look.
