Leaking slide motor
I happened to crawl under my coach, which is no small achievement, the other day and noticed the motor that runs my slide is covered in oil. I was wondering if this is something to be concerned about or what caused it. I have not cleaned up the oil yet as I'm not nuts about sliding back under there and getting a face full of brake clean. Any comments or suggestions...

Some of the older slide motors have leaky seals. I would have it inspected if you can't do it to make sure it is not cracked.
Some of the older gear motors had a port that gear oil could be added, which doesn't make sense cause they aren't supposed to leak.
I had one like that a long time ago and put a zerk fitting on it and filled it with wheel Bearing grease. Now I'm letting my age out!
Don't let it stop you from camping at any cost!

My coach is a 2002 model with what we were told very little use. I guess I'll explore my options a little more and maybe plan on replacing the leaking motor at the end of the season. Any ideas where I can even find a replacement motor...?

Jayco can give you some info if you contact their customer service with the
vin #.
Finding out who made the original one may lead you to a rebuilt or salvage one. Main thing is finding out who made it and go from there.

Very little use is NOT good thing when it comes to RV's The seals on your hydraulic system probably dried out and are leaking.. more usage would have prevented this

You are probably correct but buying anything used puts the buyer at the mercy of what the seller tells them. So far I've had the slide seal replaced, replaced the battery and LP tank cover. Had the water-heater problem addressed along with replacing the four weather-worn tires replaced. I also repacked the wheel bearing and had the 12 volt issue fixed. I've put around $1500 into our used coach but considering the 'deal' I received when we purchased it I feel we are still in the black. I realized we would probably have issues with the unit but I went into the purchase with both eyes opened...

Mine were electric with gear oil in the motor. I am not sure which you have but I don't think Jayco was into hydraulic slides back then.

If a Harley didn't leak it wouldn't be a Harley.
