Led Cube lights for night time campground arrival

looking for suggestions and tips for installing some LED cube lights for night time campground arrival & setup.

I have already bought several items I want to use some of the supplies I have on hand already, but i can add to what I have already bought or just use some it it.

I already have a medium speaker wire ran from the tongue battery to the rear bumper for a backup wifi camera. I am thinking of tapping into that wire with a quick disconnect like on a trickle charger. and just plugin or unplugging it when needed Click image for larger version

Yikes, hope you aren't setting up near me after dark with those things. That looks like a drastic overkill. Might I suggest a nice rechargeable head lamp that you can wear? That will focus the light only where you are looking, not EVERYWHERE light those fog lights would.

im talking about using them to see where I'm backing the camper in the dark. most of the campgrounds we go don't have any street lights. so its pitch black dark. and hopefully one need to use them for a few min.

Just aware that those lights are extremely bright and glaring. I have a set on the back of our Seneca, mainly for hooking up trailers at night and when Boondocking for things that go bump in the night.

The lights he linked to are 60 watts each, 120 watt for the pair, so 10 amps for both of them.

I said the same thing! I would replace it with a proper 14 gauge stranded automotive wire, strung under the unit. I would permanently mount the lights under the TT. If not, I doubt I would use them as it is to much work to pull out to back in and setup camp.

If it is only for backing up. It is very easy to tie into the center pin of your 7 pin wire harness, and they will turn on automatically whenever you to back up.

If you want to be able to turn them when disconnected, I would have to think about it, but with a diode or two and a maybe a relay, you could also add a switch to turn them on when you desire.

I have thought about adding backup lights a few times. If I was going to add backup lights, I would add two up near the front of the rig, point out and back, so you can see along side the rig for any obstructions.

I mounted something similar to my hollow back bumper that holds my slinky. I drilled the holes as close to the corner of the square bumper as I could to allow the bolts and nuts to clear the slinky and not snag it. I double nutted it on top of the bumper and used cap nuts inside the bumper. Plenty of clearance for the slinky and a secure place away from brush and bumps. 14 guage wire and they are plenty bright enough to backup with.

I have some lights similar to that mounted on my company truck. When I'm working after dark, they come in handy lighting the back area of the truck for backing out, or in somewhere. Mine are mounted high on the back of the truck and pointed down to the ground area directly behind and a bit off to the side of the truck. This way you get more luminated area around where you need it instead of mounting low and projecting your light way out unnecessarily.
