Length of 30Amp cord?

What is the longest a 30Amp cord can be without resistance of the length causing a problem? I ask this because I can't park my camper that close to my house, and there are times I would like to hook up the camper to 30Amp.

It would probably be easier if you can tell us how much you need and we can work it out from there.

I probably need about 120 feet, but I may be able to get by with 100 feet.

OK. Sorry for more questions but do you want it to be temporary or permanent?

Another factor is how much current you want to draw.

Well if you try and run a extension cord type cable that far it is going to get expensive. I personally would use #8 to go that far.

A full 30 amps is a lot to push through 100 feet of cord. But if you are drawing a lower amount, like closer to 15 amps, a 12 awg cord should be okay, and a heck of a lot cheaper.

My 30 amp box is on the side of house by driveway and I park MH in back yard and on occasion when kids come they stay in MH and I use the MH cord and two 30 amp extensions. I believe they are 25 or 30 ft each so I am probably 90 ft or so. A/C has always worked fine. Have had the 30 amp cords for years and believe I may have purchased at Walmart. Have never had any issues.

A #8 would be over the 3% amp drop rule but it would work, it you want to do it right go with #6 at 100' and not worry about it.
