let say...

Hello guys im new here and im french canadian so...bear with myfrenchglish please

now tell me what you would do, let say you have the choice between the very same flooplan, very same everything, the only variable is the construction, construction of the structure . Imagine yourself choosing between a whitehawk and a jay flight, which one you would choose ?

I've already bought my trailer in oct, ill get it in april .when you wait like that you often second guess your choice, but hey I know that a great camping season is ahead of us, even more since its going to be our first one as new retiree...freedom 55 what a nice concept

waiting for your input guys and happy holidays to you all !

Each have advantages and disadvantages...it's more what fits you that makes it the right choice, as far as which trailer you buy.

I bought a White Hawk to save on weight more than anything. Less weight should yield more mpgs for my TV which over the life of my trailer saves money. Less weight will save wear and tear on the TV and I hope better handling and stability. Plus I like the White Hawk's looks and the packages.

To save weight though, I gave up amenities found in standard trailers such as a larger bathroom, design, like windows on the slide out, larger holding tanks, etc. Larger wheels as well which are much better than the 14 inch wheels that come on White Hawks.

I too think you need to consider the tow vehicle when buying a trailer and the limits it may have as well as the overall safety of you and your family.

Lots of decisions go into buying a travel trailer...consider all of them then buy what works best for your situation...money, family size, tow vehicle, camping style and so mich more.

Btw thanks for the warm welcome, looks like a great place to be

my Tt is a whitehawk 24RBS 2014 Bought new in oct to be delivered in april, sitting now on dealer lot so saving winter storage my second choice was the jayflight 24 Fbs 2014, a very nice rig more storage but also much heavier....

Welcome, and congratulations on your retirement and new TT! Similar to Blue Deuce, we went with the White Hawk because of the weight.

I prefer the stick frame with the aluminum siding, I know others prefer the fiberglass, but for me there are too many issues with fading, oxidation of the fiberglass, and the de lamination issues.

Up front I will say that I'm not familiar with either TT. Now your opening question was to chose which TT - between two equal trailers. But then the story evolved to pointing out the differences.

It doesn't sound to me like two equal TTs were being discussed. And only you can balance what's most important to you. Or you could toss a coin.

See you in the spring, lets say late June for our Canadian friends <grin>.

Looks like I am answering my own question, I've read a lot before buying my TT but I was not aware of this site and now I'm full of question, I wonder if I picked the right one...you know that feeling....

The delamination, and the luan styrofoam and luan bonded floor , bent frame ( Norco next gen IIRC ) makes me wonder if I choose the right trailer. Maybe it would have been better to by my first TT builded the conventional way ??

I know the internet can also be misleading, Jayco built thousands of trailer like mine so should I worry to end up with all the problem reported here on the Whitehawk I dont think so but you sure know about the Murphy law....

See you in April my friend not June LOL !

Bonjour from Sask...
Go with the one you like the looks of... I prefer the smooth fiberglass siding. To me it just looks better. It also does not dent in a hail storm the way the aluminum siding does.

You've already bought one, so that's the best one for you!

As for weight, personally I don't much care, as long as I've got the tow vehicle for what I'm pulling. Then there's mileage. I've had a toy hauler that got 10 to 11 mpg with or without a load. And our current TT weighs nearly double what the empty TH weighted, and I get 10, a tad more or less. Biggest factor is wind speed I'm driving in.

Homer, I ordered the 17Z a week ago and am going through the same mixed feelings that you are. I looked at many, considered several different makes and models and now ask myself, did I order the right one? We should probably stop overthinking our decisions and look forward to our first trip in our new trailers. I'm sure we'll both be happy with what we get Good luck to you.

We should stop overthinking period. No matter what we get there is always pro and cons, and thing we learn after the fact , if we decide to buy our model its because it was the right one at the moments. ( im convincing myself at the same time ):-)

We see trouble or bad thing here because we focus on jayco, if we would spend the same time on other brand we would feel the same im sure.

So we will wait for a few trip and see ok ? :-)

We have had both the Jay Flight and White Hawk.

Jay Flight heaver construction. In current models White Hawk about #600 lighter.
(27RLS 2015, vs our 27DSRL)

I miss the night stands under the wardrobes in the bedroom in White Hawk, but I also love the outside fridge.

We are very happy with our White Hawk and expect that it will serve us well until we have to give up camping. We are in our 70's and hope to camp at least another 10 years.

If this is your first trailer, chances are you will discover what you like and dislike about your floor plan and trade in the future. Floor plan is probably the most important thing about trailers and 5th wheels.

Welcome to the forum, you will learn much here!

cant wait to go , but its kind of chilly in Mtl :-)

For now I have to much time in my hands, so that give me plenty of times to sweat the small stuff.

Nova Scotia hey....its an idea I've visited the Cabot Trail area and louisbourg, Halifax many years ago...Hummmm ...that can be an idea for this summer.

enjoy your new trailer. Now is a good time to stop reading about different designs. Instead time to plan what accessories you may need and what your first trip will be.
