Let's hope the roof is sturdy

This view is what greeted me this morning when looking out the window. Let's hope the roof holds. April can not come soon enough....

Looks fun! Wish we had some of that.... snow generally passes us by around Christmas time.

Your roof will be fine. We get at least that much on ours through the winter.

I think you should be ok, however...

I myself would get on a step ladder and use a push broom to remove as much snow as possible (only if its safe for you to do so). Once you get a day above freezing, that snow will get very heavy plus all the water from the snow melt.

Just my two cents.

It will be. Don't forget all the rigs sitting on the various dealer's lots look exactly the same.

I think if you'd take into account the hours of digging out of the snow mountains, even with a snow blower, you might reconsider . At least, I got my exercise today.

Here are some pics from my in-laws place in Binghamton NY, southeast of you along 81. In the one pic, you can see my brother-in-law standing on the sidewalk. Now, he is only about 5'5", but it should give the members from other areas some perspective of just how much snow there is.

Snow by itself is fine. When it thaws and freezes again and start to layer, the weight will increase.

How does that happen without adding more water? When snow melts and freezes it still weighs the same amount. It's just more dense.

If it gets rained on it's a different story because it usually adds the weight of the rain.

Having said that, I swept most of an 18 inch snowfall today off the roof from a second floor window in my garage, using a broom that I attached to a long pole from the swimming pool.

It took a while. That's a LOT of snow . . .

I should probably do the same, although I need a ladder. At least the landing would be soft in case of a fall .

We got a total of 41 inches here in one night.

If you leave it alone it'll be just like all the Rvs in the neighborhood and at the dealer's lots.

If you poke at it with brushes and poles can you be assured you won't damage the roof membrane?

Are ya feelin lucky?

Your side of the state has made the television a lot. We grew up in Watertown, and I lived on Tug Hill for several years, so deep snow is normal for us. You guys got your fair share for sure.

At the RV dealership before RV's go into the shop, snow has to be removed. Fresh snow can be blowed off with a powerful leaf-blower. The frozen stuff takes careful handwork to remove. By the time it is spring, many layers of snow exist on the roof.

Our campsite has several metal sheds. The roofs all collapsed from snow at one time or another.

Our "guest house" is a 1964 TT. Fifty Six winters so far. The roof is still flat.

Of course, it wasn't a Jayco and they built them better back then.

I cover my camper in the winter. If I rake the snow off, the rake will be rubbing against the cover, not the roof membrane so there is little concern about damaging the roof. Yet another reason to cover your camper.

I use a roof rake. Those of you who live in snowy climates know what these are. Those who live in more moderate areas are probably reading this between snickers.
