Load Range Upgrade - Forgot the Spare

I Just realized that after upgrading my OEM tires from Load Range D to E - I never swapped the spare? Should I buy a matching load range tire or will the "D" Spare work in an emergency. I believe there has to be a very slight difference in diameter but there is a 20 psi difference in inflation that concerns me...

I switched from C to E and didn't change the spare to E, figured the C will work if I ever need it since that's what came on the trailer.

I have new D rated tires going on out TT Thursday, but the spare isn't getting replaced either. At least not for now.

4 year old trailer tire? Humm, probably not critical, but that tire is getting close to end of life, even though it might never have been used.

What is your comfort level? There is a chance it could fail, especially the older it gets.

I replaced mine at 5 years, I just did not want to stuck on the side of the road on a Sunday.

JA- I am not comfortable which is why I am at this point. I actually upgraded my tires midway through the first season with this trailer. So all the tires are aging. I agree on the 5 year mark which is why I will likely wait for that point and replace them all.

What I was really wanting to know was thoughts on running a D tire at nearly a 20 psi difference from the E'S...

Another option is compare the price of a used trailer tire to new. The spare isn’t important until you’re on the side of the road wishing you’d spent an extra $100.
I upgraded from 205/75/15 Load C to 225/75/15 Load E. I also upgraded the spare...by having it I’ll never need it!

I did the same thing. Upgraded from D to E and forgot the spare but assumed the Goodyear Marathon D rated spare tire will still be good in an emergency. Although it's 8 years old now it has never seen the light of day because it's mounted underneath the camper and I keep it inflated to 70psi. Probably walking a tight line there and unsure of my chances in case of a flat on my E rated tires.

you're fine with a d rated tire unless you are exceeding that weight limit.. which is unlikely as you would then exceed your axle limits... just think of it as you need to go 300 miles.. it will make that trip...

make sure it is aired up though...
