location of air admittance valves?

Hi all, new here! Not new to full-timing, but never had a Jayco.

Our TT is a Jayco Jayflight 2017 model. After some research, I think an air admittance valve failure is what's causing our trailer smell. Can you tell me which drains have air admittance valves on them? I found the kitchen sink, but do I need to go looking for one on the shower? I thought plumbing code provided that they only need to be on fixtures more than 5' from the dump valve, which would eliminate bathroom sink and shower. But I don't know for sure...

Thanks very much!

Welcome to the forum.

Please post what model JayFlight you have. Someone may know the valve's location.

Until they do.... Is it an RV specific plumbing code with the 5' distance? If not, it's unlikely it applies to RVs.

Mine is up under the bathroom sink. Not sure if that''ll help you but might be worth a look.

secretcheese3000,

Welcome to JOF

"Normally" they are installed near the kitchen and the bathroom sink plumbing. Possibly near an outdoor kitchen drain plumbing (?) ...., but your Jay Flight SLX doesn't have an outdoor kitchen.

Also, if a P-trap is lacking water odors can escape (or loose connection).

Bob
