I read somewhere in another RV related message board that someone's spouse closed the handle because he thought his wife was still in the rest area or something. She couldn't get out and he didn't know she was there. Obviously they figured it out but your idea sends a chill down my spine and now I wish we had gotten a model with 2 doors!

We do lock both locks, by the way. And we ALWAYS check the door handle and door before we drive anywhere, which is why I was asking about this kind of thing.

I tried it to see if I could get out, I got inside and had my wife to fold the grab bar over in front of the door, I couldn't get out, the only way that I could have got out would have been to kick the door open to brake the grab bar of the side of the trailer.

Surprised she let you out. I would never tried that with my wife in control of the door, she's mean sometimes.

This very thing was discussed elsewhere on the forum a while back. I don't remember what the consensus was.
For me personally, I have another door with one of the small non-foldable handles. I can also reach the grab bar from my kitchen window if I need to. If both of those failed, I would try for one of the two fire escapes I have. That's quite a drop, and while I'm not "old" I'm old enough to not try something so foolish without a darn good reason; I could break something on a fall like that! If all else failed, I would try for the storage compartment under my bed, I think I could fit...
Of course, I could always just call the park office from my cell phone and have them send someone over to let me out.

I also had a problem with the door opening on it's own when traveling. I checked, and double checked, that the doors were locked and dead-bolted before departure. After finally resorting to folding the grab rail over so the door wouldn't open, I figured out what was going on. The lock mechanism was not working properly. With the door open and turning the dead-bolt to be out, I could push the dead bolt back in with my finger.
The lock mechanism ended up being replaced by the dealer under warranty. I'm not sure if you have the same issue but that's what I found on mine.
Good luck.

This has come up before about opening the door with the grab bar folded over it.
On our rig, we tried it, the door just pushes out very easily.
