I have been looking into inverter generators of late, There seem to be shortages of the Champion inverter gennys since the Hurricanes. Home Depot, Lowes Amazon etc all sold out.
I love Yamaha products, have two outboards, one with nearly 7000 hrs on it, and an Atv thats been super tough but I just cant seem to bring myself to spend a grand on a 2000 watt genny for my limited needs. If it was a commercial application or full timing etc I would not hesitate to get one....

We have a Yamaha EF2000iS generator. It is very quiet and economical to operate. It can also be hooked up in series with another EF2000iS generator for extra power if needed.

Just used our Champion 3100 Dual Fuel for the first time after breaking it in. I really like it and it is pretty quiet. It is nice not to have to drain the fuel to store in my garage(close to Dryer and WH) as I run it on Propane. I was able to here the Predator3500 (Harbor Freight) run. It is pretty quiet also. I like my Champion from Costco.

I called Champion to get a high altitude jet for a planned trip to CO. The tech told me that if running off propane, a new jet was not needed for high altitude but did recommend going to a hotter plug. I used it and had no issues to speak. Did not try running on gasoline. Only used it to recharge my batteries/microwave, etc as I was boondocking. I didn't run the AC so not sure how it would have handled the heavier load.

Try SuperGen Products in New York for Champion products. Authorized Champion retailer and Champion warranty repair center. Good prices on new, but fantastic prices on refurbished Champion generators and inverters. Many of the refurbished models are simply shipping damage returns with little to no hours that they repair to like new condition and sell at a substantial discount with a warranty. Free shipping, no tax, and excellent customer service. They have a web site, however refurbished stock changes daily, so I would suggest you call to see what is currently available. I purchased my 3100/3400 Champion inverter from them, it arrived in 3 days, and looked and ran like a new product. I saved a bundle over the new price. Very satisfied!

x2 on SuperGen. I ordered a 100233, 3400w manual start, and it arrived in 3 days from California to Washington. Paul and crew at the California location are great to deal with. They patiently answered all my questions and directed me to the right generator for my needs.

It is not widely known but they do tri-fuel conversions too for $155. I was able to get the generator, tri-fuel conversion and an hour meter installed for under $900 shipped.

Dual (or Tri) fuel is not something I had considered, but it could be really handy.

We opted for the Champion Dual fuel 3400 and it is a gem. It is electric start and runs on propane or gasoline. Propane seems to deliver less juice, but is quieter.
The electric start is a real joy. 2 seconds to up and running. We special ordered it from HD for around $800.
I have owned Honda and Yamaha products and liked them, but I am able to run the whole trailer on one genny instead of two in parallel mode.
We're happy campers.

Yeah, those Champions seem to be a best overall value right now. Dual fuel and decent price compared to the major players in the game. When one can get a 3500 dual fuel inverter generator that has 3200 running watts for between $1000 and $1100, hard to say that isn't a decent package deal, especially since it weighs in at 100 lb and the Yamaha or Honda 3000 units come in roughly 30 lb heavier. Kinda hard to find an argument against one of these Champions. I will be seriously considering one when it comes time to get another gen set.

I'll get some pics posted tomorrow.

Tri-fuel is gas, propane and natural gas. Can run it on my natural gas bbq plug at home during power outages and I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to refill it.

I have 2 Honda EU2000i generators. I have Honda's because when I bought my first one, I had a choice of either Honda or Yamaha, period. There were no Preditors, or Champions, or anything else.

When I bought my Companion EU2000i, Kipor's were beginning to make their way into the portable generator world, however, since I already had one 2k Honda, I got another.

If I were starting today, I would take a long, strong look at the Champions and Predators. My requirement for any of them would be two fold. 1) they can be twinned together (which I believe all can be), and 2) I can easily attach an extended run external gasoline tank. #2 is very important for the camping I do.

My desire for two 2k gennys rather than one 3k or 3.1k generators is so I can actually get then in and out of the rear of my pickup. No way in Hades could I pickup one of those large single units.
