Looking to upgrade TV

Looking to improve my tow vehicle. I do not know much about RAM 2500 cummings turbo diesel. I am reading good things about it. I would like to hear from those who have one. Also looking at Ford F250 HD 6.7 diesel. (Little more knowledgeable about the Ford) Any thoughts from current owners? Good or Bad?

I drove the 6.7 in a 2015 F350 for a couple days and was happy with everything but the exhaust brake. But since it wasn't towing anything and is "automatic" according to the sales gerbil, maybe it would be fine under a load.

I have a lot of experience with Fords, including two diesels, and despite the low rating Consumer Reports gives them, I've only had one major failure, a transmission replaced under warranty, in close to a million miles.

Both my F250 and F350 dually have been issue free. They're comfortable, quiet, and pull great. I really like the camping package puck system in the new models. When coupled with B&Ws Companion hitch, it's easy to remove it and have the whole bed available within a few mins.

I'm also a happy Blue Oval guy. The 350 is my first pickup and first diesel. Pulling the 12700# 5th with a gasser would be a real struggle at best. The 6.7 has been trouble free in the 20k mi we've owned it. I like to say it's an OX and it loves to pull!
At highway speeds I see 19-20mpg and around 13 when pulling. Our '03 Expedition 5.4 got similar mileage on the highway but pulling our little 4400# X23B only managed in the 9's (on a good day).
I love my Ford, but I've always been that way.
I expect you'd be pleased with any of the big 3 and probably some "others".

I drove both the '14 f250 & 2500 diesels back to back. I've always owned Fords, but after driving both, I chose the Dodge...Largely due to the wife enjoying the ride over the Ford and the mega cab was a bonus. I bought mine back in December '14 and now have 2,200 miles. I've had no issues or problems thus far.

I have a 2013 Ram 3500 with 6.7. I love it. Pulls like a beast and is a nice vehicle to spend the day in. The downside it is not a good daily driver. If it is used as a daily driver you will end up in regen mode regularly and will be required to shorten the interval between oil changes.

Have a 07 Ram 2500 5.9 CTD.
IMHO
1. Easier to work on.
2. Easier performance tuning.
3. Better MPG

But they don't build them anymore......

I had many 5.9's and I agree that they were my favorite, but alas the 6.7 is now what Ram offers.

True...07 was the last year the 5.9 was offered (5.9 and 6.7 was offered). I test drove both and chose the 5.9. It seemed to have more power and was about$3-4k less.

We have owned 2 Ram 2500 Diesels. 1st one was a 2012 2500 Diesel Crew Cab. We had no issues with it at all I loved it. DH took it in for an oil change on the free maintenance plan last spring and dangerously walked into the showroom. He really liked the Mega Cab's extra room for DD and the reclining rear seats due to an upcoming cross country trip. He also liked the front bench option instead of the huge console. He called me and I went down and took a test drive. I liked the coil suspension, a much smoother ride and less road noise than our 2012. We have also noticed a much improved gas mileage, no towing, than the 2012.

The only downside is the DEF additive. But all newer trucks have them now.

We have been very happy with the purchase plus it tows the TT with no issues.

If you're going new, the 2014 Ram also air suspension. Better ride and it will automatically load level when the trailer is hooked up.

I have 21k on my 2014 ram 3500 and no issues. The 2500 has coil rear springs and rides a bit smoother unloaded

I traded a 05 f250supercab 4x4 back in October due to oldest boys couldn't fit in backseat anymore and got a 2011 ram 2500 slt cc ho and love the way it tows wife thinks it rides more like a car than the ford or the Chevy diesels we test drove! Would not go back to a gasser nor to the other 2 after owning this!

My buddy made the exact same decision as you back in December as well. He's been a die hard Ford guy all his life but the Ram is in another class above the Super Duty trucks right now. Especially when it comes to frame strength. My '14 F150 has a stronger frame than my F350 did.
