Question LOUD Pump

We have a 2007 Jay Flight RKS. The pump is so loud we were wondering if it is about to crash, or is this just the norm? We are thinking of replacing it before we are on a trip and it goes. Has anyone done this? What is a good brand and do we go the same size or bigger? Thanks for all your help in this matter!:

Has it always been loud or just recently? Ours was loud from day one and I did the silencing mod and accumulator tank mod as others have. Here are some pics in this link.

We have a 2007 Jayflight 25RKS. Our water pump is rather loud, but not to the point that I consider it to REALLY loud and need to replace it.
We do not use the pump that often because we are normally hooked up to city water. The only time we use the pump is for winterizing, and after we dump, we use the pump to pump water and chemicals down the black tank.

A simple mod like crabman suggested would be the first thing I would do.

Thank you for the information Crabman - I showed my husband the pix and he said he would try mounting it like that.

There are 3 things that make these pumps annoyingly loud IMO.

1. The hard pex piping on the pressure side of the pump vibrates against whatever it contacts. This could be the floor, walls or bulhkeads, etc. This can be defeated by changing the pressure line from the pump to the nearest fitting to flexible tubing, available at Lowes, etc. And also wrapping the hard pipe with foam pipe wrap wherever it contacts something.

2 The pump itself can transmit vibration even though it has a rubber base. My mod takes some of that vibration out of play. Mine was also mounted to the wall, not a good place IMO. It vibrated right through the wall to the master bedroom, LOUD.

3. Short cycling. Without an accumulator tank your pump will cycle on and off repeatedly when low water flow is being used (ie rinsing dishes). The accumulator causes your pump to cycle on and off less often so it is less annoying and easier on the pump. For small amounts of water the pump may not even come on at all.

For a quick noise reduction try # 1 first if you do not have the time to do the others, it should at least help. If the pump is defective of course it would need to be replaced. I believe mine is a Shurflo, as is the accumulator tank.

They are all noisy, some more so than others. The noise reminds me to turn it off when traveling and sleeping.

Mine was really loud...I messed around with and discovered that the siphon hose used to winterize it was flat against the cabinet panel transferring lots of noise. A quick move of the hose got rid of about 1/2 of the annoyance. It is still pretty loud, but much more tolerable.
