low point drain and winterizer

I was just wondering, if by draining the water from pipes using low point drain ensure that there are no water at all in the pipes, what is the point of pumping in anti freeze into the pipes ?
if there is no water in the pipe, then there wouldn't be water freeze inside the pipe that can break the pipe, would there ?

Not a good practice since the water lines could have low spots that don't drain and freeze. Usually the pex lines will survive, but the fittings usually don't.

Antifreeze is cheap insurance. If done correctly usually 2 gals will be enough.

I think the major reason is you never can get ALL the water out by draining, most but not 100%. Therefore antifreeze helps condition and push out the remaining water in low pipe areas i.e. bends, exterior shower pipes, exterior kitchen faucets, sink "P" traps, the bottom of tanks, valves, the water pump, etc.

Blowing out the lines with air pressure also helps

Don't assume ANYTHING !!! You didn't build it, someone who gets to go home after the trailer is done did it.

I always blow the lines out with air after draining from the low point drains. It makes adding antifreeze a bit faster. You would be surprised at how much additional water comes out when air is applied. I drain the gray tank into a 5 gallon bucket after using the air and nearly fill the bucket.
