LP Bottle Question

Had my 30# LP bottle filled at our local RV deal. When I hooked it up back at the RV and turned the valve open, it was already open, how can that be. Looked on the knob to make sure I was turning it open, I was. Turned it the close direction and handle turned closed. How can the handle be left open after they fill it?

I believe there is a check valve to prevent emptying the tank when the valve is open but nothing connected. Bad mojo tho that the dealer left the valve open.

Yes there is a check valve called OPD on all tanks 30# and smaller.

correct about the check valve, i have a tank that shuts off for some reason after sitting for a while. each trip we make i have to disconnect and re connect the supply line in order to make the propane flow. once on it works fine.

The qcc1 fitting stops the gas flow unless it is connected to something. Opd overfill protection devise prevents the tank from being filled more than 80%. Just adding a little more to what was said already.

I think when that happens, you just reconnect the hose and slowly turn the bottle back on. I believe the lack of back pressure activates the valve.
