LP QuickConnect for Blackstone Tailgater Combo.

I got the Blackstone Tailgater Grill and Griddle Combo for Christmas.
Does anyone have this unit and have you used your LP QuickConnect on your RV to supply the gas for it.

I know it’s possible to convert and use a a QuickConnect LP hose from The RV, (without a regulator on the hose of course), BUT HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY DONE THIS and how is the performance verses using the supplied hose and regulator and separate tank.

I would like to hear from those with actual experience.

I do what you are asking with a 22" Blackstone griddle and it works perfectly. I ordered a 12' hose online that had the proper ends already on it, and I would do the same all over again. My trailer already had the female quick connect end so all I needed was the hose.

I am assuming your tailgater has the same connection.

Like Rich, I do not have the Tailgater version. I usually use my 11# tank, only because of the dog's tie-out, so I tend to cook away from the TT. The hose works on the smaller units.

You do not mention what you have for a camper. Just an FYI on BTU usage;
12K BTU - 17" Blackstone
24K BTU - 22" Blackstone
35K BTU - Blackstone Tailgater
12K - 34K BTU - Furnace, most seem to be around 20K
8.8K - 10K BTU Water Heater 6/10 gallon tank
1.4K BTU - refrigerator
6.5K BTU - Stove - Back Burners
9K BTU - Stove - front Burner
? BTU - Oven
If you are running the Tailgater, furnace, water heater (BTU Range of 35+12+9=56 to 35+34+10=79) at the same time you could be close to maxing out your propane tank's regulator's maximum flow rate.

Propane tank Pig tail connector color represents the capable flow rate in BTUs
70K BTU - Black Propane tank plastic nut - typical on all RVs I have seen
1XX BTU - Red
200K BTU - Light Green
500K BTU - Dark Green
I upgraded the pig tail on my a manifold tree with my 11# tank, to the light green connector. The LP shop did it quick and was cheap.

Hence, I would be concerned about using it on the quick connect without upgrading the propane tank flow regulator (not pressure, but flow rate).

We have the Blackstone Tailgater. We've used it all last season and this year. I ordered this to hook up to quick connect:

We dumped the grill that came with the camper and only use the Blackstone now. We have not had an issue with it. The only problem we have had wtih the Tailgater is wind. I am looking into wind guards now.

This is great information that I haven't seen before. I use my 22 inch Blackstone and my Coleman Road trip off my camper supply. Never thought about using them while other appliances were running...

I have not had any issues with Jayco regulator. As for wind guards, I have mine in this thread. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/top...ink_source=app

I went through two iterations of quick connects. The first was just too long and went below bottom of the unit when folded for transport.

The new one is a female flare to make quick connect. That connects to a standard female to male extension hose. I will get you a picture this upcoming weekend.

Here is a picture of the connection on the grill, and one of the two parts that make it up. Unfortunately, they were out of the flare conversion fitting yesterday. Sorry, do not have that part number, but I will check in the camper.Click image for larger version
