Maiden Voyage 24rbs - Great!

We took our new 2017 24rbs out this week for her maiden voyage.
Everything went great and we discovered a couple things.

1. I was surprised with towing experience the few times I have moved it.
Turns out, PDI tech left tanks full with ~600 lbs of water sloshing around.
Thing tows much lighter and without any wiggle now.
2. Awning would not do the one hand slant.
Nuts on arm of awning would not allow arms to bend where designed to.
Loosened nuts and adjusted tightness. Now works as intended.
3. Love the floor plan. Very roomy and everything worked as designed. Love slide.
4. LED awning lights attracted very few bugs, only a few small fliers.
5. I didn't realize I had lighting in steps, nice feature.
6. I didn't realize AC worked off thermostat. Very nice to set and have fan
and all noise shut off automatically when not needed and over night. AC is
much quieter than my old roof AC unit.

Lastly, originally plugged in and no AC or microwave lights. Checked breakers before realizing pedestal breakers were probably off :-)

Great trip, looking forward to many more.

Doug

Glad it was successful and productive for you Doug! I'm sure you'll find many more things to fuddle with.

Congrats on the maiden voyage. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoys ours. The slideout makes a world of difference for floor space doesn't it?

I'm always looking for something to improve on just to have a project. So far all i could find to do was install a support under the bed to keep it from sinking in the center and recently upgraded to LR D tires.

I agree. The only thing I can think of is a new bathroom facet. It sits to close to rear of sink, can't hardly fill hands with water to rinse.
I like an easy mod to make a shelf above microwave and I think I will hinge the panel to access Hot Water Heater. Can't believe you have to take screws out to remove and turn bypass valves.

Other than that, I am happy. Maybe I will re-enforce bed and create a separate storage under bed with a door and sealed off from pass through.

Dining room slide makes a world of difference.

Yes, bath faucet is short and the kitchen faucet makes a mess every time we turn it on. Ours is the pull out sprayer type and the small jets of water are pretty strong which splashes water every where.

I agree with the water heater access door. Those screw holes will eventually strip out. Thanks for the idea of adding a hinge.

I can't picture a shelf above the microwave. What for? I need to take a look because I don't remember whats above it.

Oh, and I put a note on the water pump shield to remind me there is a valve hiding back there. When I dewinterized this year I couldn't get any water at the faucets. Called dealer and he clued me in.

Make sure you check the traps on the sinks and the bath/shower they work loose.

We just bought the same model and have had it out a couple of times. There was/is a huge learning curve for us as it is our first trailer. Glad it all worked out for you!

We didn't like the faucet in the bath either, swapped it out for one that comes up much higher and out further. Water runs right into the drain. MUCH better!!

I have plans for the over the microwave mod and the hot water access mod as well.

I have the same dislike on the kitchen faucet. It's great if you are not using the sprayer but if you are using the sprayer, you have to turn the water down to almost nothing and then it almost doesn't stay latched into spray mode. I think I will deal with this one for a while to see if it gets more annoying.

Overall we love the unit and we are heading out on our second trip tomorrow morning.

Loving ours as well. Did additional bracing under bed but still doesn't help with crappy mattress. Also added shelf to cabinet below tv and above couch.

I did the bracing under the bed before we spent our first night in it in the driveway. I added a 3" gel memory foam before we spent any more time in it. I dare say, I wish the wardrobe cabinets weren't as deep as they are and didn't have sharp corners. I find they make it more difficult to wiggle out of bed than it should be.

Agree Phil. We put a 2" memory foam topper on the mattress and is now comfortable.
Shelving will need to be added as you mentioned along with stackable drawers in the wardrobes and large bathroom closet area. Lots of space, but don't want to pile clothes on top of each other.
Waiting on wife to decide on cutting board/stove cover option as well.
Sooner or later, I am going to add a power cord converter kit. About 2' at the end of my power cord is tangled up in the mouse hole. Twisted on it, but couldn't get it undone. I don't see an easy access to that area under the TV?
I did add a MaxxAir vent over the bathroom vent. Kind of a standard accessory I have always added. I am sure I would leave the vent open at some point and allow rain into unit.
