This is the instruction from the BAL manual:
Use the flex shaft and #3 square bit provided. Locate each motor at the top of the mechanism. Insert the drive bit into the end of the motor and activate with a cordless drill. DO NOT USE AN IMPACT DRIVER. Alternate between motors so that the room does not become wedged in the opening or encounter cabinets or other fixtures in the RV.
I've heard that some did not find a flex shaft in their documentation, but it is a standard 12 inch flex. I've also heard that it is actually a 1/4 hex bit, not a square bit. I have a 166 which uses an entirely different (and much simpler) setup, but I know about the 199 slide and controller from discussions elsewhere. The full BAL manuals can be found here:

In the discussions elsewhere, one guy on a trip that didn't have the flex shaft jury-rigged the power wires from the controller to move his slide.
