Max air vent cover install
Okay here is my issue. On my 314bhds I want to install a max air cover over the vent in the bathroom. The problem is the black tank vent line comes thru the roof right next to the the vent.
The max air will fit over the skylight but you cant use the brackets provided.
When it is just set over it you can open and close the vent with no problems. Just not enough room to use the brackets.
What if i just use Eternabond tape to attach it to the roof???
I already have Eternabond around the skylight.
Would taping it down with the Eternabond be strong enough to hold when traveling???
Let me know what you think.
Thank you

Do you have some pics? Can it be where you can just drill new holes through the frame at a new location?

I put mine up a good while ago, so I don't remember, but is it possible to mount the brackets on the front and back of the cover instead of the sides?

Swinepartner, no pics right now. The problem is its off center over the skylight. So one side is close to hitting the vent but the other side is far away. When we had the roof replaced 2 years ago the rv tech said using the supplied brackets wouldn't work and they didn't seem interested in coming up with something that would.

Only problem with that is there is not enough of a lip on the front and back. Good suggestion though.

I don't think Eternabond would be the best way to attach. Once installed there is space around the bottom edge which I guess helps with ventilation. Which edge is the problem? The front edge might be a problem but sides or back maybe trimming the flange would help. Both that I've mounted had to be a bit off-center but no problem as long as the original vent lid can open. Maybe modifying the original brackets. Some pix when you can would also help.

I would not attach it with Eternabond tape. I would look at either a different type cover or come up with some unique way to modify it so it can be installed.
Other than that and some McGiver skills and pictures I can't offer much more.

I forgot about needing ventilation. Good point any moisture that got in there would be stuck and no way to drain out. [emoji17]
I am headed up there this weekend and will try to come up with something. Will post up some pictures so you can see what I am up against. Thanks

Good luck. i put one over the vent in the bathroom on my 29 RLDS, every time i open it I get a bad smell in the bathroom. It creates a vacuum like affect and sucks the bad air out of the toilet when you flush it. i leave my vent closed and have no trouble with a bad odor in the bathroom.

I think you could mount the brackets on the front and back instead of the sides.
You could off set it to favor one side or the other too.
Good luck!

Notch the foot of the vent cover to go around the vent pipe...
