Mice

Hi All. So, we are out here camping and I open up the oven and see a mouse nest. Ok, not a big deal. What I'm concerned about is it looks like the nest was made from the insulation behind the oven. Should I be worried? Should I use the oven? Thanks for any input.

The insulation is to keep the heat inside the oven, so yes, I would be pulling it out to be sure heat won't be escaping out, and causing any fire or damage. Also a good time to see if they chewed on anything else back there. I hope there's no other problems from them wanting to live with you.

Definitely remove the stove and check behind it. They're getting in somewhere. Plenty of videos on YouTube on removing one. It's really very simple. Screws and gas line connection under the top catch pan.

Please post your make, model and year and the brand and model of appliances for best responses and accurate help.
Mice and mouse proofing are a frequent topic and you can research it on the bar above. If they get in once they will be back. They got into my fridge insulation once. Now I have on the last three Rvs done as much as I can. I crawled under and stuffed stainless steal scrubbies in every crevice and hole I could find and then caulked them in place. Then I went inside and did the same in cabinets, cubbies, etc. where wires, water lines and gas lines came into the bottom. I also added wasp covers on furnace, fridge and water heater to keep them out and mice at the same time. Last, I made pet proof mouse bait stations to put near wheels and tongue. Note, they can climb all the way to the roof and get in there too!
PS be careful, some mice (all?) carry disease. Use a good mask and try to not get "dust" spread around, inhaled and carried into the house.

Perhaps if you are ever in Fla I am sure I found someone that would share a parking space with you.
