Missing screws on entry steps - Hummingbird 17RB

Our TT looks like the one in the picture. The entry steps fold out from the bottom and do not actually touch the ground when extended.

There is a frame and the foot boards on which we step on to get in and out are slid into the frame and screwed to the frame (no bolts or washers)

I see that few of those screws are missing and it is only a matter of time before we loose the rest the foot board slides out completely. I purchased new screws to replace them but they are stay loose (keep turning for ever) indicating the threading is ripped due to the weight of people stepping in and out.

Does anybody else have this problem? How did you fix it / deal with it? Seems like a design flaw to me.

Thanks for your help!

Use some new locknuts and longer screws if needed. Those steps are pretty standard and simple to repair.

I just went out and checked where my steps attach to the frame, one missing and the other was loose! I happen to have 2(two) 1/4x3/4 inch stainless steel sheet metal screws with built in washers, the fit very tight. Thank you very much for bring this to my(our) attention!! Just one more thing to check every now and then. Thanks again!!!!

I was just sitting here watching the Bears and saints football game, got to thinking what other bolts could be loose ,went out and checked where the body bolts to the outside of frame. Yep, everyone of one of them were loose! 9/16 box end wrench and got 1 to 1 and a half turns out of each one. That gets added to list also! Thanks again Al160

Mine were the same the first time I checked them a couple years ago. Put nylock nuts behind the originals on each so they stay put.
