I put aluminum screen wire over my refrigerator openings during storage as we have a lot of mud dauber wasps in my area of Illinois. In the past they got in there and made big problems!. I take it off while traveling and put it back when I get home.

I didn't trust those little springs on the Camco covers so I purchased a few feet of stainless steel wire and added a couple twisted on supports to the springs on the other openings. I leave those on all the time and this isn't the first trailer I have used them and no problems.

I fabricated my own screens out of gutter guards for the refrigerator vents due to the increased size of the screen opening (free area). But I also have an ARP push/pull fan system that really moves a lot of air to help remove condenser heat from the compartment.

Our refrigerator performed great in 105F weather this summer so I have no worries there.

I didn't trust the springs, either. I put mine on with .020 stainless safety wire... Down here in these parts you're just asking for problems if you don't keep the bugs out.

Also have the furnace/water heater exhausts screened in as well.
