“Mystery” water leak under kitchen sink

So, I have this leak under the kitchen sink. It doesn’t always leak. Sometimes it’s a spattering of drops. Sometimes is a huge puddle. Can be days before anything happens. I’ve checked all connections. Now, I noticed the weight on the faucet line (it’s a retractable faucet) has rust on one of the screws. Took the weight off and inside the weight is rusted. Today there was a large puddle. Everything else dry. Appears to come from the faucet line. I think the faucet is leaking at the faucet connection and draining down the line, landing at the weight. The problem is, the faucet connection to the line is just push in with 2 o rings and a piece of plastic that screws on. I suspect the weight is pulling on the line just enough to allow water to Leak around the o ring. No idea how to correct the problem. Trailer is under warranty but the dealership is 2 hours away from our seasonal so forget about getting actual warranty service.

I can post pictures later if I’m not being clear enough.

So maybe the line isn't installed well enough. Maybe the o-ring(s) are not all the way in? Can the line be pushed up into place any further?

From what I can tell the o rings look good and it plugs into the faucet as good as it can. When I get back to my trailer I’m going to pull on the line myself to see if I can induce a leak.

Please do....., would be helpful to view the type of connection you are referring to and the surrounding area.

I would consider sending photos with a description of the problem to your RV dealership. I would contact the dealer in advance advising them you are sending an e-mail with photos. They may be able to identify the issue and send you the replacement part since you are still under warranty.

The other thought I had, was, is the water pressure very high? Otherwise, seems the o-rings are not doing the job as expected. Can you take a pic or two?

I’m thinking no because I have a pressure regulator attached.

Another possibility is a loose p-trap. Check the connections of the sink drains.

I had the same type of leak. My leak was from the holes drilled on the kitchen counter top where the faucet is mounted. The faucet plate does not cover the holes enough to keep water out when washing dishes or cleaning the counter top. Loosen the faucet from under the sink and check the faucet plate on top of the counter to see if the plate covers enough of the holes, if not use some plummers putty or caulking around the plate, or try to find a wider, longer plate.

Another possible thing to try, is to lubricate those two o-rings with plumbers grease, perhaps allowing them to slide into place without any friction that may cause a slight distortion. Just tossing it out there for consideration.

If you can get it apart, you can try to replace the o rings, big box hardware stores sell replacement ones in the faucet section.

I keep plumbers grease next to my caulk gun and EternaBond sealer tape

Here are some photos. I cannot fathom there was no way that the amount of water I saw came from the bottom of the faucet. We didn’t spill enough water around the base of the faucet for that.

Could there be a bad section of hose within the braid? And at the right 'bend' it leaks? The o-rings that plug into the head of the faucet I wouldn't think would be the problem. Water would just leak at the head, I presume, rather than travel upwards to get to the weight.

That’s the exact same turd of a faucet we had in our 23RB. I sent it to it’s grave after the head kept leaking and eventually cracked where your inspecting it. Replaced it with a quality residential faucet and never looked back. Only thing you’ll need are adapters from the 1/2 PEX to the residential faucets hook ups.

I wondered that as well. So annoying that whenever I look at it it does nothing. Not a leak to e seen.

I just replaced my kitchen faucet last month after a prolonged leak from out of the bottom of the cold side. I did buy another RV faucet from Amazon. But, it was cheap and it works great.

I am definitely considering changing the faucet for a residential one. At this point the only thing we can keep in that cupboard is a bucket. Rather annoying.

As Screwby mentioned, probably best to just replace. Probably going to a problem going forward, and we know, water leak is not a good problem to have!

As I mentioned, I just replaced mine at the end of last month. When I removed it, I found this on the cold side that was leaking. It was coming from between the brass and plastic on the cold side input.
