What size awning? Measure from center of arm to center of other arm.

Always leave one leg of the awning a few notches lower than the other leg.. this will give the rain a place to run off to..

X2

Sounds like a fair price for a replacement.
I figure my 12' is $500 at least.

First outing last May and pop up storm came. We pulled our awning in. Father-in-law didn't. Well, his awning is large and the amount of water broke the rear arm and all the water came down on me and slammed me in the side of the trailer. No one was hurt, but the awning was ruined. My grandfather told him the large awnings need a middle arm. They used to be standard but companies stopped adding them. You now have to request it. Check the size of your awning. The middle support made all of the difference in my FIL's new awning. It is much stronger now. However, my house still stands by "pull it in if you leave and when you go to bed" motto. Good luck!

Middle support arm huh ??? I like that idea !!!! I wish the previous owner had of known about the leave one side down a few notches trick but honestly the damage was done before we got it. With the bend in the big spring loaded arm thingy I knew replacement was called for before I got soaked with that big lake like splash !!! LOL
