Need Experienced Jayco Owners advice!

Hi...brand new to the forum and not even a real RV owner yet! (Unless you count the relic out in the yard the kids and I stayed in while I was cooking in tree planting camps over 3 summers!)
I am looking for advice on purchasing our first TT. We have looked at several makes and models and settled on a floorplan with 2 slides..one in the living area which slides the table and sofa, and the other in the back in the bunk room. It will have the queen bedroom upfront as well. So, at least 30 feet. We will be purchasing used as new is waaay more than we want to spend. Having looked through different makes, checked online at the ratings sites, NADA, etc..We like the layout of the Jayco Jayflight 30BHDS...although it rates rather low in the rating sites, which is a concern . In a couple of days we will be looking at 2 versions of the Jayflight. Both 2008s, both with the same floorplan. One is a JF 31BHDS G2 model, the other just the JF 30BHDS. Online the floorplan looks exactly the same! Is there a difference? The G2 owners are asking for $2000 more for theirs. What we would like input on is the actual quality of the TT. Is it a worthwhile investment of my hard earned $$? We plan to use it to primarily live in in a wet climate from January to June. We would also like to travel with it at some point to points south and north. We have 2012 Dodge Ram 1 ton, so the pulling is not an issue. Any advice will be greatly accepted and appreciated! Could be wrong on this but on the G2 it has more options than the other one, They are most likely the same floor plan. We have the 33RLDS and wife and I really love it. When you check out the two models, see what is in the G2 that is not in the other one. Good luck.

Like Parcany just said, the G2 has nicer things in it and usually more things come standard. It would be an upgrade. Get the floor plan that meets your needs. Everyone has a different idea as to the perfect floor plan.

My wife and I purchased a 2004 JayFlight 29BHS. The quality was outstanding compared to other brands. Jayco just uses better materials to put their units together. We looked for a long time before we purchased the 2004 unit. That said since you mentioned you plan on using it in a "wet" (I'm assuming humid, damp etc.) environment I *strongly* recommend you invest in a mechanical refrigeration based dehumidifier. We live in the Pacific Northwest and water is always a problem. Before we purchased the dehumidifier we had major water - i.e. condensation problems. After we purchased the dehumidifier we had none. On a cold day we sometimes would dump a bucket a day of water. That water if it had condensed on the inside of the walls and or the windows have caused big problems. A few other things to consider. Do not leave the black tank valve open. Close the valve and use generous amounts of toilet chemical (I use Thetford blue formaldyde based black tank odor control many people use a biodegradable version but I have had excellent results with proper use of the blue stuff). When it comes time to dump the black tank make sure the tank is at least 3/4 full before dumping. This means you may need to add additional chemical to keep the smell down. When you dump the tank use the black tank flush system until the water comes out clear. Next close the valve and add additional chemical and at least 2 - 4 bowls of water to the tank to ensure it does not dry out. At least once a year carefully clean the black and grey tanks using ice and bleach. Dump at least two large bags of ice down the toilet followed by a gallon of bleach. Drive around for 30 minutes. Fill the black tank to capacity and dump the tank with a clear elbow and carefully note any debris exiting the tank. If debris is noted run the black tank flush system to fill the tank and flush again until the water exiting the tank is clear. Close all valves and add more toilet chemical. I would recommend you have any trailer (or other RV) inspected prior to purchase to protect yourself.

Just a word of caution when buying used. If you see any signs of water damage, walk away! Look inside all corner cabinets for signs of water leaks or damage. Push on all the walls at the top and in the corners looking for soft spots. Also step/push on all flooring you can get to along the walls and in the corners. Usually, if there has been water damage, you will be able to find signs. A lot of times, it will be hard to find but if there is water damage, you want to make sure you spot it and walk away. My son learned this the hard way.

Lol...we decided on a TT purely because we want to keep the truck box available for 'stuff'. Also, a canopy will be going on at some point. I do love the 5ers I've been in though. We went to an RV show a couple of weeks ago and could not believe how extravagant some of them were! Way nicer than many stick and brick homes! Oh, to be wealthy.

Double ditto on water damage. It is a TT killer. With that said some damage [minor delamination and puffed interior seam] may be an opportunity to get an otherwise very nice and newer TT at a very good price. The current owner should have declared the prior damage and been specific when and how the leaks were repaired. I sold an 07 that had considerable front and rear cap delamination and floor damage. i had repaired the leaks [manufacturer brain farts] and them replaced damaged floor and installed new plank flooring. I advertised and sold the unit at at a considerable discount over the book value of the model. The buyer got a very nice unit with all the features of a much more expensive TT at about 60% the cost.

Not recommending that you buy a water damage unit, but its all in the disclosure, the documented repair, and price.
