Nev-R-Lube hub - center rim too small

Hello,

I am replacing two axles in my trailer and needed to order new rims as well (3.5k axles to 6k axles, i.e. 5 lug nuts to 6 lug nuts).

I ordered new dexter axles with Nev-R-Lube hubs. It appears that the centers of the rims are too small and would not fit. The shop that is doing the conversion sent my also a photo of a steel rim that fits the hub.

What would be a solution? Boring out the rims?

I would think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone willing to bore out a hole on a rim. Too much liability.

I think I will find a shop to bore out the hole. However, my question is whether there is any other solution.

Contact the rim manufacturer and explain the issue. I wouldn’t look for a shop to machine the rim. If “no joy” with the manufacturer, return and look for another supplier. Rims and hubs ain’t rocket science.

Well, the tires are already on. I purchased the rims online probably 2 months ago. I know that people are boring out the rims all the time, including in sport cars. I am just trying to figure out whether there is any other way to solve this. When I was researching nev-r-lub hubs, I've never come across information about bigger diameter of the hub.

Is it possible the capacity of the rim isn’t high enough for the new axles that’s why the hole is smaller. Just a thought. There must to be a reason for it.

I called the vendor - ecustomhitch.com They are sending me other rims with bigger center hole. Excellent customer service - this is only what I can say!

Earlier I canceled the camping trip over Thanksgiving due to the bad weather, so no drama around trailer not being ready for the trip.

Thanks Guys!

In the meantime, I received fee quote from one shop - $100 per rim to bore it out. The rims were like $50 each, new... I am lucky that I purchased them from a great vendor.
